I believe that when people seek counseling it is because they want to make a change in their lives, improve a life situation, make a decision, solve a problem or have greater understanding and insight to their lives. Counseling is a trusting partnership between client and counselor. A process of looking at and integrating thoughts, feelings and actions in a safe environment. It is not about telling you how or when to change, but rather finding what works best for you. Effective counseling requires a commitment of time, energy, and active participation by both client and counselor.
I specialize in treating children, adolescents and adults with anxiety, stress, anger, depression, family conflict, relationship issues, personal growth and spiritual issues, self-esteem, career concerns, and issues of grief and loss. I use an eclectic collection of theoretical orientations based on the individual needs of the client. I will often encourage some form of "homework" and explore creative ways for self-expression. Therefore, I often adopt art and play therapies, along with a cognitive behavioral counseling and solution-oriented approaches.
