My name is Cynthia Kemp, LPC, currently work as a licensed practitioner of the healing arts at a mental health clinic and have worked there for the last 4 years. My approach is nonjudgmental and accepting of all individuals that I talk with as we build an alliance to work together. I realize that each individual is different, and I need to adjust treatment to fit that unique individual. I practice from several models dependent upon the needs of the client. Listed are the most common approaches that I use for treatment: Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused, Person-Centered, Supportive Therapy.
I strive to have direct, clear, and positive communication that will assist in confirming treatment goals, and encourage and provide feedback. When communicating with clients my tone is optimistic, my manner is positive and active listening helps me to draw out details.
Successful care and progress would include a client learning and practicing new coping methods. They would continue to make positive and healthy changes in behavior and learn to take better care of themselves. They will continue to strive to understand their emotions better and will have figured out what they need to live their best life.
