Life brings moments of joy and moments where one might feel stuck, alone and hopeless. It is during these difficult moments that we begin our journey of self- discovery and growth. It is through this discovery that we begin to heal our inner child, our relationship with our family and as consequence find inner peace and fulfillment.

Hi there! Taking this first step to counseling is not always easy. Whether you have been to therapy before or are starting for the first time, I am here to help. I believe in forming a positive relationship with clients, emphasizing the importance of a safe space for therapeutic rapport. I take an existential approach with my clients, to help clients foster their roles and responsibilities. My goal as a therapist is to help you feel empowered and capable without making you feel judged. I believe therapy should be collaborative and feel it is important to work with clients to help promote growth using your own timeline.

Accepting new clients! Life can be challenging, change can be hard. I am here to help! I believe there is no “one size fits all” approach to therapy. I will meet you where you are at in your life and we will work together towards healing and learning healthy ways of coping with stressors. I would describe my counseling style as warm and interactive. I like to provide an empathic, non-judgmental, and supportive atmosphere where you can feel comfortable unloading the worries that have been troubling you.

My work is heavily influenced by John Gottman's research as well as Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy.
Would you like to improve your relationships? Your job? Or other life situations? I strive to help clients experience immediate relief from problems by shifting perspective and working on the development of new skills. Anxiety and depression are often the result of past trauma and EMDR therapy offers rapid and significant relief. Life transitions like a new relationship, loss, marriage, divorce or job change can be challenging and may require outside help. I provide an unconditionally accepting environment to help you explore solutions that lead to meaningful, long-term results.

My background is in DBT, Prolong Exposure therapy for trauma and EFT.
I view therapy as a way for one to get to know oneself better through knowing and understanding your conscious and unconscious drives, defenses and longings. I believe that when we know ourselves better we can be more in control of life's journey and have a better grip on the internal and often subconscious obstacles that get in the way of one's fulfillment.

We are experiencing shifts in the world right now, and that can bring up many questions along with anxiety that feels out of control and can cause strain on our lives and relationships. As a trained Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) therapist, I am passionate about working with couples to establish ways to deepen their bond and strengthen the connection they long for. As an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing-trained therapist, I use EMDR to help clients who have experienced trauma to find long-lasting healing through restructuring negative beliefs into healthy, positive emotional freedom.

Are you feeling really stressed and you aren't sure how to manage it? Wondering if it is possible to have a moment where you aren’t worrying about something? Stress can be general or specific to relationships, self-esteem, sleep, weight, parenting, the list goes on. It can interfere with success, can keep stuck in unhealthy relationships and keep you feeling really alone.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
