As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist I approach my time with clients from both an individual and relational point of view. I believe it is vital to explore self-awareness and interpersonal relationships in order to understand what may be interfering with living a more fulfilling life. I understand that not everyone responds to the same experiences in the same way and that therapy needs to be designed to fit each individual clients needs based on their own histories and experiences. I will collaborate with you to make therapy a place that fits your needs.

Welcome! I'm Allie. You may have a lot on your mind and know what you want to discuss and are open to reflections and observations. Maybe you're a professional facing a career change, a college or trade student, someone struggling with low self-esteem, or dealing with guilt and shame in family relationships. You may be in a caregiving role seeking support, an LGBTQ+ person considering their identity, or a woman with anxiety in today’s socio-political climate. Perhaps you suspect undiagnosed ADHD, or you're a parent balancing family demands and your own needs. I can support you in communicating your needs and desires effectively!

I am a licensed therapist who works with adult individuals and couples. I aspire to contribute to the relief of suffering; to help clients move through blocks; and to be increasingly able to handle life's challenges and the impact of negative experiences on daily functioning. Life is not easy and in this increasingly disconnected society, we often feel alone even when living among the people that we love. As an experienced therapist, I offer a connection built on honesty, authenticity, and empathy. By developing and fostering this connection, we can face your pain together while also uncovering and challenging blocks that hinder your own ability to heal yourself. I use a variety of modalities to help each person meet his or her goals, though EMDR and Interpersonal Process Therapy are my most common approaches to treatment.

I am trained in psychodynamic therapy and may incorporate elements of IFS, CBT, narrative therapy, MI, mindfulness, and somatic techniques in our work together.
I’m Sam Mashaw, a clinical social worker committed to helping you cultivate the self-confidence and self-compassion to step into your wholeness. We live in a society that often seems designed to keep us small, keep us scared, and keep us doubting ourselves. I consider how social context–historical, present, personal, and systemic–may be influencing the stories you have about yourself, your relationships, and the possibilities for your life. The truth is this: the world needs YOU, your unique gifts, and perspective. Whatever you’re going through, I am here to help you tap into your innate strengths and wisdom to navigate your life.

I have been practicing psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and couples therapy for over thirty years. I believe that all of us are attempting to better understand our emotions/actions in order to develop a stronger sense of self and to achieve more satisfying personal relationships and careers. While I have completed five years of postdoctoral training geared toward working with highly motivated, insight oriented patients, I have worked in many different communities with diverse populations and am quite comfortable with assisting men, women and children from all walks of life in achieving their personal goals for growth.

Hi, my name is Cassie and I am happy you’re here. I am a clinical social worker for those who are parents or wanting to become parents, and other adults experiencing anxiety, depression, and stressors from disruptions in relationships. Parenthood can feel unpredictable, both challenging and rewarding. Being a parent can cause a whirlwind of emotions and at times leaves us feeling alone or unsure. Whether your stress stems from your own childhood coming back to you, relationships, your child’s development, or the endless 'hats' a parent must wear, you do not have to be alone. I am here for you.

Integrative Mental Health. I believe that the mind and body work together and a holistic approach is the most effective. I believe in a CBT approach, where I will push you to do the work. I am ART trained, which is an eye movement therapy known as Accelerated Resolution Therapy, used to process trauma in 1-3 sessions. I am DBT trained, which teaches life skills to help with anxiety, depression, impulsivity and emotions. My focus is on young adults, and adults.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
