Change is inevitable but the process of change can be difficult to navigate alone, whether as an individual or a couple. Often advice from friends or extended family only goes so far, and is not really the kind of help you are looking for when what used to feel comfortable or right no longer feels so good. If you, your partner, or a family member identifies as male you may want to consider a male therapist to gain greater insight and understanding into male issues relating to emotions and communication and to provide greater support for both you and your family.

I want to be part of your healing story. I believe that two people working together are stronger than one. I believe that most of our suffering comes from the pain around separation and disconnection and that healing and empowerment is best experienced and guided within a relational framework. I believe that the traditional or Western medical model for healing is outdated and limited and so I embrace a holistic or integrative approach to mental health. I believe that healing takes place beyond intellectual processing and that we need to integrate healing into somatic or body based processes and rewriting personal narrative.

First time in therapy? Having a hard time finding a young yet experienced male therapist? I have immediate openings and can’t wait to hear from you. I specialize in working with men, especially those curious about therapy but maybe hesitant to try. I also specialize in working with women who are more comfortable with a male therapist. Men especially have been taught to bury their feelings and power through tough times. Or even that therapy is for weak people. This has left so many men feeling stressed, alone, misunderstood, and with nobody to talk with. Let's work through your challenges in a judgment free, confidential space.

Hello, and nice to meet you! I'm so glad you're here. Therapy should be a place where you feel accepted, comfortable, and safe. I work with folks from all walks of life who are looking to build real, meaningful relationships with themselves and others. My clients tend to struggle with anxiety, stress, people-pleasing, self-worth, perfectionism, and interpersonal relationships. You may avoid showing your true self to other people in your life - because what if something bad happens? If you find yourself struggling to carry the weight of these expectations, you’re in the right place.

What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.
What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.
How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.
What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
