Despite difficulties in life, I believe people have an amazing amount of resilience and strength. I work to enhance their strength that gets lost when overwhelmed by challenges. Using multiple modalities, individuals move beyond their old story and into the life they desire. I have heard from clients that "therapy has never helped me" and clients of mine have achieved their goals. I have specialty training with trauma which, by definition is "a deeply distressing or disturbing experience". I assist people in trusting their innate abilities to make decisions from a healthy perspective.

Whether you are seeking help with couples counseling (couples, newly engaged, LGBTQ, military couples), parenting (current, expecting, or single parents), life crises (existential, identity, spiritual), life transitions (death, retirement, separation, illness), sports performance, and life coaching (achieving goals, overcoming challenges), welcome!.
Does your life seem to lack purpose and meaning? Sometimes unhealthy patterns or traumas keep us from experiencing our joyful, authentic selves. Making use of your own inner strengths and wisdom, I will guide you to develop solid coping skills and a sense of mastery over problems. My transpersonal viewpoint of human nature is a holistic and inclusive approach that weaves together the best of Eastern traditions and Western science to create an effective plan to help you feel unstuck.

Problems are meant to be worked on, people are meant to be worked with. The therapy process offers a way to work through your problems while you are partnered with, heard and supported. Many paths can be taken, all intersect with the paths of others. If your path involves grief over the loss of a loved one, relationship, health, home, job, way of life, part of yourself, then I can help. If, along the way, you struggle with ADHD, anxiety, depression, relationship stress, parenting or eldercare, I can equip you with tools and skills to help you cope.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
