Not accepting new clients
I have vast experience and training working with people enduring issues related to trauma, emotional distress, interpersonal conflict, and suicidal ideation.
I'm not currently accepting new clients at this time. Life sometimes takes us down a path that can be difficult, uneasy, and sometimes quite painful to deal with. Working together, we will create a safe, comfortable environment to help you walk down that path with a sense of hope that things can get better.

Morning/afternoons availability in person/telehealth. Are you ready to embark on a journey of self discovery, growth and healing? You might be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the path ahead, but deep down, you have a desire for positive change and a willingness to explore what is holding you back. One can have the desire to change, but it’s the Courage to take the first step that produces change. You are making a Courageous decision today and I applaud you for that! Therapy is a collaborative effort where we continually take steps to identify and create the change one seeks. My goal as a clinical social worker is three-fold: 1. To help you attain clarity in the matters that negatively impact your life, and 2. To support you as we identify options for dealing with those matters and create the change.

Over 20 years of clinical experience working with adolescents, teenagers, and young adults struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and addiction in various treatment settings. Diversity and multicultural issues are embedded in everything we do and contribute to presenting problems. I am conscious of varying decision-making preferences, the role of family dynamics, stages of life, socioeconomic status, and issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity. As well as the stigma associated with seeking mental health services.

You deserve to feel safe, supported, and, most importantly, heard. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by life’s demands and feel like no one is on your side. Depression, anxiety, and stress can make us feel as if there is nowhere else to go. Or we develop coping methods that are not aligned with our life goals. If pouring from an empty cup is no longer an option for you, then I commend you for taking the first step towards your new life.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists
How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?
Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.
Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.
Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?
The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
