He has extensive experience working with children as well as experience working with adolescents, adults, and families in different settings such as outpatient, community setting, and residential. Ismaila believes in creating an open, safe, and judgment-free environment with clients and is multiculturally competent as well.

I have been a clinical social worker for over 20 years. I specialize in couples therapy. I incorporate a variety of interventions, including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, trauma-informed approaches, and solution-focused therapies. I believe that individuals can improve their functioning and quality of life by offering different perspectives, establishing goals to increase self-awareness, and adapting positive behavioral patterns.

Welcome to New Haven Therapy (www.newhaventherapy.com). I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist and have a small Telehealth practice serving ages 15-105 all over the state of Connecticut. I offer individual therapy and this spring will be offering a GROUP: "Thriving With My Adult ADHD." Group is an affordable way to access high quality care and each session is priced to be of service to a wide range of clients at only $25 per session ($200 for the group). This original curriculum has been tested on hundreds of people and has been demonstrated to be highly effective for so many clients who are now thriving!

I’m passionate about trauma work and caring for patients with suicidal thoughts or behaviors. It is truly rewarding to see people get better through the use of evidence-based therapies. We'll work together to create a collaborative, non-judgmental space. Then we will identify, evaluate, and change your unhelpful or upsetting thoughts. I have been working with adults, couples, families, and children for over 40 years. In my experience, people not only seek a therapist with expertise, but also a safe environment in which to explore personal and often painful feelings. My approach combines exploring ways people can make immediate changes, as well as learning how earlier life experiences have created impediments to change. Therapy is not about fixing you as if you're broken. To me, it's about recovering from suffering, and connecting deeply and authentically to your thoughts, feelings, desires and dreams. It can be difficult to begin a new therapy relationship and be vulnerable, especially when relationships have been harmful in the past. I think taking the risk anyway reflects an inherent pull toward repairing the old wounds that restrict our capacity to live freely and joyfully. I love working with LGBTQIA folks, relationships, trauma, and difficulties with shame, self-love and acceptance.

Our work together begins by starting where you’re at. Then, we’ll engage based on where you’re at and work together to build a trusting relationship. We’ll jointly identify the pieces to your personal mental wellness puzzle and put them together.

I have a particular passion for supporting and uplifting LGBTQ+ individuals and those who have experienced trauma of all kinds. I have extensive expertise in treating PTSD, C-PTSD, and dissociative disorders. As a trans therapist, I practice from an affirmative care model that centers gender joy, as I strongly believe that our joy is resistance! My goal is to provide a warm, empathic space for you to move out of survival mode and into a life that brings you fulfillment and meaning.

My Center for Progressive Treatment is best for substance-involved individuals and their loved ones who have not reached their goals with traditional treatment, especially those who are not inclined toward 12-step (AA or NA) approaches. We believe that you, the client, 1) know what treatment will work for you (you pick from a wide array of scientifically-proven treatments vs. the traditional idea that others should decide for you); 2) already have the power to change (vs. it comes from admitting powerlessness); and 3) are your own best source of motivation (vs. it comes from external pressure or a higher power).

I am Certified in EMDR. EMDR is a trauma therapy which research has shown to be highly effective. The most important characteristics of a good therapist are intelligent listening, the ability to use multiple skills according to the needs of the client, and most importantly, compassion. I have worked with depression and anxiety (among other issues) for 31 years. It is very difficult to seek help at a time when one is most vulnerable and I am especially sensitive to this with my clients.
