Everyone is chasing happiness - an emotion that comes and goes - but perhaps what you are truly seeking is the state of peace. Making peace with our past while maintaining hope for the future may seem impossible right now, but that is where I can help. "You were born with wings, why prefer to crawl through life?" (Rumi)

I am licensed in Connecticut and Vermont. I am an EMDRIA certified therapist, approved consultant and EMDR trainer. I use a warm and supportive, yet semi-structured and intentional approach for both in-person and telehealth sessions. I do both short-term (3 x EMDR Intensive Programs) and more comprehensive (long-term) therapy. I can work with you to construct a plan to tackle life's challenges and help move you to a more desired outcome. I use systems theory (how we interact with the world and ourselves) and EMDR therapy (helping brains naturally rewire in a more adaptive way), in combination with IFS and various other approaches.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I envision working with clients who are navigating the complexities of life transitions, grappling with grief and loss, or seeking to overcome the burdens of anxiety and depression. My ideal client is someone who recognizes the need for support, whether they are dealing with relationship challenges, stress, or a deep sense of spiritual or emotional distress. They seek not only relief from their immediate pain but also a deeper understanding of themselves, a way to reconnect with their inner strength, and the tools to build a more fulfilling life.

It is a sign of courage, strength, and drive to seek therapy. We can start to enhance our relationships with others and our quality of life when we are driven to make changes. In order to improve clients' quality of life, I want to provide a secure and encouraging atmosphere where clients feel empowered to identify habits and pick up new, healthier coping mechanisms to help deal with traumas. I strive to raise self awareness while providing support and compassion so that clients can feel comfortable working through previous traumas, present stressors, and future concerns.

I help men, especially new dads, find more confidence, compassion, and connection in their emotional and relational lives.
Hey, Dude. You're Dad now. Don't let the family you come from damage the family that comes from you. Fatherhood is heart work, and the wisest parts of you need to balance work with life and cope with stress around the clock - day in, day out. New Dads need a therapist who will listen to them and join them through the truth. Accountability brings on whole new meanings in life now, and believe you me, you want to accumulate the least amount of regrets. You need therapy to challenge AND support you because your fatherhood outlasts you; it lives on and ripples in the impact of a legacy that you're building now for all time.

Have you ever been in ongoing emotional battles within yourself that seems like it’s never going to end? Regardless of how hard you try, when things seem like it’s getting better, do you find yourself back where you started feeling like a win is unimaginable? You may often find yourself enduring these struggles with no Strategy in place to overcome these barriers. But ask yourself: When am I going to do something about what I’m going through? The time to begin the new journey of emotional wellness and self-healing begins currently in this present moment.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
