We will process your life situation together, and I will assist you in developing skills to improve it.
Life can be hard, and as human beings we all have our struggles in one way or another. I consider it an honor to go on a journey of discovery with the individuals I work with. To assist them in meeting their overall goals and needs. I am a caring, compassionate mental health professional who believes that positive change is possible and within reach for everyone. I see my clients as people, no one is a number. I do not have all the answers or a magic wand to solve all your problems, but I will do my best to help you to get you where you want to go, whatever that looks like for you.

Weaving together life Internal Family Systems (IFS) with life coaching, I will guide you to safely explore why you are feeling stuck or doubting yourself, and shift to confidence and calmness.
Stop feeling like a little kid wearing adult-sized shoes. Speak your mind without worrying how you look or sound. Ask for what you want without feeling undeserving, or fearing rejection. Step into the adult you are, while appreciating of all you have endured to get here.

My approach to coaching and therapy is to set goals, resolve problems, create new ways of dealing with emotions and relationships and acquire skills for the future.
Depression, anxiety, transitions, relationship issues and crises of all kinds are part of life. While school teaches us how to think, we do not necessarily learn how to deal with our emotions, relationships, changing situations and the difficulties that life presents us with at many turns. As a therapist/coach/emotion educator, I work with individuals, couples and families who deal with emotional, relationship and situational issues. I work well with people in crisis and transitions. And I teach skills that will help deal with these situations in the future.

Therapy is a journey that we will take together and I believe that as your therapist, I can help you find the tools necessary to improve your life.
For some individuals, therapy can be a frightening step to take on the journey of self-improvement. For others, it can be the piece needed to help turn one's life in a more positive direction. If you are looking to begin on this journey, I believe I can be of help.

Who is without life's challenging struggles? None of us are without pain.
My personal experience is of habitual self-judgement by our relentless inner critic, constantly running in the background. Who among would not benefit from the support of a nonjudgemental mirror, especially during these stressful times, to inspire our own kind self reflection and curiosity in the present moment, where life happens. It's our own self aggression that keeps us painfully stuck. What is "right" with us should be the first question! Daring to proclaim our fundamental OK-ness is our challenge. I dare you!

Challenge your old habits & harmful negative thinking- Let go of old tapes saying, I'm not good enough, or that if my partner (job, etc..) was better, than I would be better; or that I'm too old to try (blank). You can feel more in control and capable of creating the life you envision.

Embracing vulnerability, courage, shame, empathy and worthiness, we will work together to discover what is holding you back in life so you can move forward in brave new ways.
Life can be challenging - and fulfilling. Many of us want deeper, more authentic relationships but aren't sure how to create them. We wonder who to trust. We worry about what others think of us and are highly self critical. We want change in our lives but fear and confusion stop us. I will help you explore these areas and build skills to meet life's challenges. My approach is client centered and strength based. It is grounded in the research findings of Brene Brown as presented in her books, I Thought It Was Just Me (but it isn't), The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly, The Power of Vulnerability, and Rising Strong.

Kat came to social work after several years as a public school teacher. After witnessing the significant impact that compassionate support and guidance had on families in her classroom, Kat decided to pursue a path more explicitly focused on caregivers’ mental health. She is excited about working with young adults in life transitions, those considering beginning families/TTC, and pregnant/postpartum/parenting individuals as she feels passionately that the wellness of caregivers has generational impact.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
