I have a Christian foundation as the theme of my practice although my approach is very eclectic.
Hello, my name is Charlene Moorer! Seeking therapy is one of the most courageous yet intimidating choices an individual can make, but it is also one of the most rewarding. We are all confronted by difficult times and I applaud you on deciding to take the first step to see change happen. Through empathy, support, and guidance, we can work together and address the various roadblocks that are getting in the way of living your best life. I look forward to working with you to inspire positive changes in your life and relationships. Since life can be very unpredictable, I am also available after hours for phone support if needed.

Everyone has a story, and the chapters in it are impacted by the choices we make... even with our mental health. Don't let anxieties, depression (often from father wounds), or any other unresolved issues, prevent you from becoming what you were meant to be. Let our team of men help you in processing through these challenges and assist you in finding some of those missing pieces that have been preventing you from seeing a fuller, clearer picture of yourself. Guys,... those later chapters haven't been written yet... and with the right tools, support and encouragement-we can make your future story a bestseller!

It can be difficult to ask for help, so let me start by congratulating you by taking the first steps in addressing your happiness and mental health. Your emotional health is very important and has an impact on your overall well-being. For far too long, stigma and fear of judgement has prevented people (especially people of color) from engaging in MH therapy.

Typically, the usual approach to addiction begins with the premise that something is broken, and needs to be fixed. You will often be given a list of things to do,and a time frame to do it in. I believe that my job is to help you reflect on why you behave and think the way that you do, and coach you to begin the process of making the changes you need to make in your life in order to heal. Change begins with you. It is important to become more solution-focused, and not distracted by worry and anxiety.

While it is not for everyone, I can specifically offer, through an eclectic and Biblical approach, Biblical Christian counseling.
Hi there! I’m so glad you have decided to take the step to seek out support! Therapy can be an essential part of a persons journey, especially gaining an understanding of who they are and taking steps towards their life goals. I would love to support you in that process! I consider it an honor and privilege to be trusted by you, to share your most vulnerable moments/feelings, and to process through the messiness of life. I believe in utilizing the therapeutic process to support you in taking power back in your life. I love pets on camera, relaxed sessions, using humor and honest feedback to build trust so I can push you when needed.

Rooted in a Catholic- Christian vision of the person, we are committed to the truth, goodness, and dignity of who you are.
We honor the courage it takes to ask and seek. Humans are meaning-makers, and we seek out answers, particularly to the hard questions around self and identity. Suffering is a part of the human experience, and the hardships of life have a way of giving us false answers to these questions of "who am I?" Difficult experiences fill us with beliefs such as "I am not enough" or perhaps "I am too much," or "I am shameful/unloveable/incapable/a bad parent/fill in the blank." Maybe you're struggling with a transition, or crippled by perfectionism or scrupulosity. Perhaps something from the past keeps coming up.

As a Christian Marriage and Family Therapist, my passion lies in helping individuals who are involved in ministry, including pastors, ministers, and leaders, navigate the unique challenges that come with their callings. Ministry can be an incredibly rewarding vocation, but it also carries the weight of others' burdens, often leaving those in service grappling with their own emotional and spiritual challenges. I understand the profound importance of a strong spiritual foundation and am dedicated to walking alongside you on your journey to spiritual and emotional well-being.

Christian Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?

Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?

Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?

While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?

The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
