I use different modalities to therapy, taking pieces from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy.
Browsing for a therapist is important because ideally, you should have a clinician you feel comfortable with; so let me tell you a bit about myself! I have experience working with clients who wrestle with an array of mental health diagnoses and struggles, including but not limited to Anxiety, Depression, OCD, Trauma, relationship struggles, and anger. I also have experience working with clients exploring their gender and/or sexuality.

I am a highly collaborative therapist; we will act as a team in establishing realistic, incremental steps to take toward your goals using a variety of therapeutic methods.
Life comes at us in waves of change. Some are predictable and gentle, while others seem to come out of nowhere and knock us completely off balance. Fears may arise about our future, or past trauma might bubble to the surface of our awareness. Confusion, anxiety and depression are normal responses to shifting insights, losses and transitions in life. Relationships can become challenging to navigate, especially when the waves keep coming at us. I will join you right where you are at, to help you catch your breath and establish stable footing so you can forge a path toward wholeness and wellness.

I recognize that body acceptance may not be accessible to all, so I work with body respect and trust to help guide you on your path towards body liberation.
Diet culture's insidious messages have confused many of us and complicated our relationship with food and our bodies. If you or your teenager is struggling with shame, guilt, and worry around eating, I teach self-compassion skills that support a holistic, intuitive, and confident way of living. I have a passion for providing brave spaces for individuals living in marginalized bodies and am a LGBTQIA+ gender affirming care provider. I love helping people of all ages become confident, intuitive eaters and rebuild their relationship with their bodies.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
