We all possess the means to heal and self soothe, however at times the internal resources needed to unlock transformation are blocked. The modalities I use focus on getting you better access to the inherent qualities you already possess such as calm, compassion, confidence and intuition. We are all on a trajectory of healing and growth, and finding someone with the right tools, skills, wisdom and fit can accelerate your healing journey. My focus is getting you to a place of thriving, not just surviving, so you truly enjoy your life and feel inspired, uplifted and centered. You deserve to feel heard, understood and validated.

Seeking out psychotherapy is an investment in yourself so that you can reach your dreams and overcome emotional hurdles like depression, anxiety, trauma, loss, and addictions. I have experience helping hundreds of people jump over these types of hurdles and get more of what they want from life. In addition to traditional psychotherapy, I offer qEEG, which helps to diagnose and predict cognitive issues based on neurologically distinct brain activity, as well as Neurofeedback to successfully target those areas in the brain identified by the qEEG as dysregulated, resulting in reduction of symptoms and increase in optimal functioning.

My practice is based on an integrative model that privileges contemporary relational theory and practice. I work with a range of issues with individual adults, couples and families, and have a particular interest in working with artists, writers, and intellectuals. When choosing a psychotherapist, it is important to find a good fit - someone you feel comfortable with. Psychotherapy is at best a healing and transformational journey that allows you to have healthier and more satisfying relationships with yourself and others. A good relationship with your therapist is the most important factor in a successful outcome.

I work with women who do not have children, have difficulty becoming pregnant, or have relationship issues related to having children.
Everyone wants to have caring relationships, to feel good about themselves and to have satisfying work. Sometimes we get stuck in patterns that are familiar habits that lead to self-defeat and hopelessness. I believe that psychotherapy and counseling can help individuals and couples move in new directions, fostering growth and a sense of well-being. I work with people from all walks of life. Change is possible; what we long for is not beyond reach.

Here at Evolving Tree Therapy we understand the many challenging demands of Mothers today. Our Mothers have current mental health symptoms impacting their day to day life (anxiety, depression, mood disorder, grief/loss). Our clients are a supporter/caretaker, are the strong one for everyone. They may have a difficult time asking for help, they are frequently tired and overwhelmed craving work life balance. They often feel the weight of the responsibility tornado. They have awareness that they carry the mental load for their home and family. We understand Motherhood can really suck, but it doesn’t have to be so hard and it's okay to talk about the hard parts. It’s okay, not to be okay. It's okay to seek therapy and medication to help, the stigma needs to end (Up to 80% of women report experiencing postpartum symptoms). Mom’s mental health is the most important thing! She is the root and core of the family. Our clients value motherhood, yet they often feel isolated in motherhood, and question their identity. Many of our moms experience guilt like they’re not doing enough.

Art Therapy, is beneficial and a non-threatening alternative to traditional talk therapy. We all have the ability and creativity to connect to images generated by ourselves or by others. Art making has a primal component and brings great insight into our inner experiences. It's my passion and priority to create opportunities for others to recognize and develop their authentic self in a safe and supportive environment. My areas of focus include working with individuals, couples, families, trauma focused, relational, and substance dependency challenges. I also provided supervision hours for emerging art therapists.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
