I’m a Registered Play Therapist who takes a playful, interpersonal, brain-based approach to helping children and families overcome challenges. I want to help children and families find the skills they need to manage the physiological effects of stress in challenging moments. I believe that parent involvement is the most significant driving force in helping children better manage big emotions. I take a collaborative approach in working with parents and children. Together, we will explore the underlying challenges that are impacting behavior, rather than focusing on behavior alone.

As a therapist specializing in Body Image, Eating Disorders, Trauma, and OCD (including Trichotillomania, Dermotillomania, and other BFRBs), clients come to me looking for a grounding, calm anchor.
Does perfectionism, obsessive thoughts, or hyper-focus on perceived flaws keep you stuck? Do you (or your child) struggle with your body image, and/or have a negative relationship with food? Maybe you keep it together on the outside but find it hard to stop the inner chaos. Self doubt, feeling like a failure, feeling inadequate, hating yourself or being filled with shame are all indicators that it is time to make a change. I can help you create a plan and feel hope. Most of all I can help heal the pain of past experiences, self doubt/hatred and live authentically.

I specialize in working with all things "fear". Fear is one of our most innate emotions, and the basis of many challenges like OCD, anxiety, phobias, and more. Though fear does serve an important purpose, for some people it can feel out of control; like it impacts every choice and thought that you have. If fear is something that is overwhelming for you, my goal is to help you take control back and better understand fear's role and purpose for you, so you can have a more peaceful and fulfilling life.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
