With specialized training through PSI and as a mother of 4 young children, I am uniquely equipped for issues surrounding pregnancy and parenting.
I love my work and feel incredibly fortunate to have formed so many meaningful therapeutic relationships. It is a privilege to travel with clients as they emerge from suffering and utilize the strengths they have found and the skills they have learned to achieve balance and ultimately, their life goals. The relationship between therapist and client is a real, equalitarian relationship built on honesty, respect, and collaboration. As we get to know each other, you will find that I am warm, genuine, non-judgmental, flexible, direct, and irreverent. I have a good sense of humor and believe that laughter is an important part of healing.

Additionally trained in perinatal mental health, I enjoy working with expecting and new parents.
Therapy can be a powerful tool to address the challenges we all encounter, including those that arise in our relationships, our work, or as a result of life transitions or loss. I believe insights gained through the collaborative psychotherapy process can relieve symptoms, support meaningful connections to others, and promote the self-esteem and skills necessary to live a fulfilling life. I work with adults and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal issues, and life transitions, including the adjustment to motherhood.

As a psychotherapist, I feel privileged to work with people as they explore the challenges that bring them to treatment. I understand that it takes courage and vulnerability to take the first steps to contact a clinician and come to therapy. It is important to me that you feel safe during our work and that our collaboration is a good match for you. A positive therapeutic relationship creates the opportunity for insight, growth and fulfillment. I am an interactive therapist, who facilitates a treatment environment that is empathic, warm and supportive. I treat adolescents, adults and couples and provide both short and long-term treatment.

Welcome to my practice. Sometimes everyday life can feel unmanageable. The demands of motherhood, career and parenting might feel like too much. You may be getting everything done each day but you feel exhausted and depleted and have less tolerance or those who mean the most to you. It's time to get the support you need to fill your tank and find moments of peace and contentment again with your spouse and your kids. I am available for FaceTime appointments, emails and telephone calls. I will create a plan for you in 2024.

As a mom, single parent, and professional, I know how important it is to check-in with ourselves; being able to look at our lives deeply. To understand where our thoughts and beliefs come from, how we can best nurture our emotions and move through life's changes. It's important to remember we are doing the best we can. Yet, sometimes it feels too hard or we feel uncertain how to grow. We are human. We all have challenges, wounds or uncertainties as we go through one life stage to another. Having the right support and resources can help move us toward a path of growth and comfort.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists

What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?

The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?

Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?

A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?

In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
