I have over 18 years of experience working with adults, adolescents, children, and families. I specialize in the assessment and treatment of Substance Abuse Disorders, Trauma, PTSD, Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, Personality Disorders, ADHD, Behavoiral difficulties and emotional regulation. I am trained in a variety of different models including CBT/EMDR/DBT /CPT Person Centered Approaches, Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Tf-CBT.

The Behavioral Health Center has been providing exceptional quality comprehensive assessment and treatment services in Middlebury and the surrounding towns for the past 17 years. We are pleased to add the additional location of Shelton. The scope of these services include: Assessment, diagnosis, treatment and medication management for the full range of behavioral, emotional, mental health, educational and social difficulties, and disorders. The multi-disciplinary team of the Behavioral Health Center is capable of servicing the therapeutic and educational needs of children through adulthood in a variety of treatment modalities.

I have experience with working with children as young as 3, families, adolescents and adults. I have worked extensively with families involved in the DCF system. I've worked with individuals with special needs and adolescent and adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, mood disorders and PTSD, across the State of Connecticut , and within a group home setting, and I hold a certification in TF-CBT. I enjoy being creative and assisting my clients in building coping skills, and I feel very lucky to work with each client that I meet. I also enjoy facilitating groups and am a certified Mental Health First Aid instructor.

I have successfully practiced in the field of Social Work for over thirty years. Having graduated from the Columbia School of Social Work in 1975, I went on to augment my professional training at the New Hope Guild Psychotherapy Post Graduate Center in NYC 1977 brought a position with the prestigious Yale Psychiatric Institute as Senior Social Worker. In 1980 I opened a private practice serving adults and adolescents with mental health and addiction disorders. Within that continuum, I have developed a specialty in the area of weight management and treatment of eating disorders. Continuing in his commitment to helping clients of diverse socio and economic backgrounds, Mark now maintains his private practice in New Haven, CT.

Hi my hours are Monday through Thursday from 9am-2pm. I enjoy helping people find balance in their lives. Some of the issues I treat include: depression, anxiety, divorce, couples or family conflicts, self esteem issues and much more. I have been in practice for 25 years and use a variety of techniques to help people feel better and use tools well after therapy is over. Some include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and Gestalt techniques. I often give homework assignments so that healthy work can continue outside of the therapeutic session. I see clients that range in age from 14 thru the elder years.

My ideal client is one who is seeking greater happiness and fulfillment in life. This person is dissatisfied, stuck, insecure, afraid, stressed or tired. The client has the answers within but has difficulty accessing them. I am here to help with that process. Depression, grief and/or anxiety are usually present in clients who struggle to "fit" into life. My job is to guide the client in making necessary changes they desire. I want to empower the individual vs. telling them what to do. Often trauma, intergenerational issues, addictions, abandonment/loss are part of the problem I need to address.

I have multiple speciality areas including, abuse, addiction, codependency, trauma, behavioral need and co-occurring disorders. I utilize treatment modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma focused, solution focused brief therapy, DBT and motivational interviewing. In addition, I have also trained as a circle of security facilitator in both Spanish and English. My main focus is to utilize all my training and professional experience to provide you with safe opportunities to discover your strengths in a way that's personal and effective to you and your needs.

I have taken time to learn ways to help families who are struggling with a variety of difficulties and hardships and also take special interest in families who need assistance developing parenting skills or who have children with challenging behaviors.

I am a pre-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have 2 years of experience working closely with children and their families who have been victims of trauma. Through my experience and training I have the ability to work with a variety of clients including children, adolescents, and families who are experiencing various challenges such as depression, anxiety, family conflict, transitions, behavioral challenges, and symptoms related to trauma exposure.
