I have been trained in, and enjoy practicing, body centered psychotherapy. This modality focuses on obtaining a deep understanding of the human person and offers the possibility of a more profound transformation than is commonly expected when engaging in popular methods of therapy. A central goal of body centered psychotherapy is creating the required safety and support to allow a person's own spirit to guide a healing process which addresses issues that hinder the experience of peace and joy that is the birthright of every human person.

I use mindfulness & Internal Family Systems therapy to help clients resolve their underlying trauma and grief issues that get in the way of having fulfilling lives and relationships. I combine warmth and compassionate listening with teaching clients skills to learn to better manage their feelings, including anxiety and depression, while using breathing, body-centered, and other spiritual principles to help clients heal. Clients will learn to heal themselves and build more satisfying relationships and futures for themselves and their families. The techniques I use apply well to both children and adults to help clients deal with adverse behaviors and addictions.

Ever feel like nobody "gets" what you're going through? Whether it's anxiety keeping you up at night, anger bubbling under the surface, or just struggling to help your kid handle big feelings, you're not alone. Hey there, welcome to my safe space—a cozy spot where you can be yourself. Here, it's all about trust, growth, and feeling included. No judgments here, just good vibes. People often tell me I'm a good listener. I'm all ears, and I'm here to understand what's going on with you. I've got a knack for calming nerves, feeling what you feel, and being genuinely interested in your story.

Now accepting new clients! Are you exhausted from carrying around the weight of anxiety? Does the struggle to get through your day with depression make you want to stay in bed? Are you overwhelmed by society's pressure to stay positive and try harder? Mental health issues can make even the most minor tasks seem impossible. Self-Harming Therapists

How does therapy for self-harm work?

A person may turn to self-injury so that they can distract themselves from their stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances. Therapy can address the cause of an individual’s suffering. A therapist can help a person understand why they may want to self-harm and help the person learn new methods of coping. A person may have poor emotion regulation, and treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is helpful for breaking this behaviour. In addition, treatment such as dialectical behavior therapy can help a person manage their tolerance of distress.

Which therapies are best for self-harm?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, and mentalisation-based therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are common approaches for people who have painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual cope with distress, regulate emotions, and manage impulsive urges.

Does the tendency to self-harm mean the person is suicidal?

Having this urge does not mean the individual suffers from suicidal ideation. People who want to self-injure look to distract or alleviate themselves from the pain they are experiencing. People with suicidal tendencies want to end life altogether. However, this does not mean a person with the intent to self-harm will not attempt suicide.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for self-harm?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Clients may see improvement within 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, maybe, a six-month period. People, especially those with co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, may need to continue therapy for up to 12 to 18 months.
