I'm here to help families raising non-biological kids, kids exposed prenatally to drugs and alcohol, and young people. I want to help make life a little easier for them and be there for kids and teens who are having a hard time.
I like using a variety of approaches with my clients, including trust-based relational intervention, brain-based interventions, solution focused therapy, sand tray and other forms of play therapy, and mindfulness. Foster and adoptive families have special kinds of needs and I hope to help them out.
We have five kids, three of whom we adopted through foster care. We were foster parents for five years and had about a dozen kids from newborn through 16 years old come through our home. The two youngest of our adoptees were both prenatally exposed to drugs and alcohol, so I understand what it's like.
