I like to think I'm not the typical shrink and am often told, "You're not what I expected." That's a good thing. I'm sarcastic, will probably talk about smoking meats at some point, and love my Detroit Lions. As the owner of Thin Line Psychological Services, I work primarily with public safety employees. If that is you, then you already know the job takes a toll. Many clients contact me because they either see changes in themselves or changes have been pointed out by loved ones and they want to address them before things get worse. I work with a lot of clients dealing with burnout and feeling "flat" or unemotional when off duty.
Having worked with people in uniform for over 15 years, I really do "get it" and will do all I can to help improve your situation. It is an honor and privilege to help the helpers and I want you to thrive, to finish your career with your head held high, feeling proud of your time in uniform. The job can take a lot from you, let me help you navigate that.
Let's be honest, not everyone "gets it" when it comes to public safety stress. If you want to talk to someone who understands, isn't stuffy, and truly wants to help, don't hesitate to reach out. You may be surprised how much better you can feel if you do.
