In my 15 years of practice, I have found, that at my core I am a client centered therapist. This means that I believe that the process of therapy is driven by the client and what their needs are in the present moment. That said, I have also discovered that using cognitive behavioral techniques to help sort through unhelpful thoughts that might be driving anxiety or depression is an important part of the process, as is teaching mindfulness techniques to help calm the body and the brain.
I am also an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trained therapist and have found that when there is trauma to be processed, this is a powerful technique to help the client let go what is no longer serving them.
Above all else, my goal is to see the person sitting in front of me, understand their struggle, and guide them on a journey to find more balance and peace in all areas of their life.
