I work with clients to address relationship problems, grief/loss, low self-esteem, academic/employment difficulties, etc.
Sometimes our job (as therapists) is to carry the hope for our clients until they can carry it themselves. The fact that you are considering therapy means that you want to believe that your situation can improve. While hope is not always easy to come by, human beings are resilient, we are survivors, and it is okay to seek help when the load gets too heavy to carry on our own. Psychotherapy is a collaborative process. I will work with you to develop the insight and skills needed to overcome challenges so that you can live a healthier/happier life.

I strive to build a close relationship with my clients by being fully present, accepting, and understanding.
I believe people heal and grow through relationships and insight. I love working with curious clients who are interested in self-discovery. I use Internal Family Systems, Compassion-Based Mindfulness, and other evidence-based tools to help my clients navigate their process of self-exploration, resolve trauma, and accomplish their goals. I believe therapy is an opportunity to explore what is unsaid or undiscovered in our experience. I am a sex-positive therapist and I welcome members from LGBTQIA, Poly, and Kink communities.

I enjoy working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families.
Being human is not always easy and life can be quite difficult. There may be times when you worry about the future, feel angry or sad; guilty or ashamed; feel upset about the emotional pain you are experiencing; or feel overwhelmed, anxious and stressed. Therapy can help by providing you with the tools and insights to help you navigate through the most difficult of life's experiences. I believe our most challenging times in life can also be our greatest opportunity for change and growth-therapy is the place to nurture that process.

I work with individuals and couples, and my approach is designed to meet your individual needs.
During my 30+ years as a licensed clinical social worker in full time practice, I have learned that vulnerability is universal, and also, that people of all ages have internal resilience and enduring growth potential. Unresolved internal issues often get expressed through such symptoms as anxiety, sadness, feelings of low self-esteem and shame, feeling stuck in repeated patterns of behavior, and in unfulfilling relationships. Therapy offers an opportunity to work through and understand, thereby resolving, these difficulties.

Walk and talk sessions are held year in the neighborhoods by our office, and are suitable for teens, adults, and couples.
Imagine hearing birds chirping during your therapy session. Or feeling the warm sunshine on your skin and fresh air in your lungs. If being in nature sounds more healing and less intimidating than sitting in an office, then walk and talk therapy may be just what you're looking for! Walking helps the brain to release "feel good" chemicals, helping to alleviate depression and anxiety and reduce stress. Walking decreases negative emotions and promotes mental clarity and positive thinking. It can boost self-esteem, increase energy, improve sleep quality, and allow you to reconnect with the natural world.

Bainbridge Center therapists have many years of experience guiding you through the healing process specializing in working with high achieving woman with perfectionism tendencies, who are going through: anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship concerns, career and life transitions, ADHD, body distortion, gender identity and substance abuse.
You have been sitting with your thoughts and seem to recycle your memories. You are excellent at suppressing your hurt and stay busy with work and life as a distraction. You may no longer connect with others the way you used to and keep friends and family at a distance. The Pandemic may have increased your anxiety and depression and you are uncertain where to begin. Your worry and fear come out as: anger, sadness and controlling behaviors, due to questioning your worth and self esteem. Will I ever feel truly happy? Will I feel truly loved? Will I find my life path and the career that makes my soul soar? Will I learn to forgive?

I work with adults and adolescents seen as individuals, couples and families.
If you are struggling to manage your feelings, make desired changes in your life, feeling unhappy, anxious or depressed, then psychotherapy can be a very powerful way to create change and alleviate emotional pain. People are not always aware of why they are feeling distressed, behaving in certain ways or repeating patterns. By providing a safe and thoughtful environment, clients and I collaborate to develop a deeper understanding of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors and to identify underlying issues that may be interfering with the quality of life.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
