It is also heartbreaking to not have secure attachments , a working intimate relationship.
As a contemporary psychoanalyst who specializes in attachments, and how they evolve throughout the lifespan, my focus is on three themes, your emotional life, your relational life, and the skills you will need to make the first two work. How do I do this? Through empathy, imagination, compassion, and collaboration, and humor. I may be an expert on the process of therapy, but you are the authority on your self, as well as your thoughts and feelings on those you love or hope to love. There is one more thing: as a poet, I believe in everyone developing personal passion

A relational psychoanalytic therapy is deeply focused on helping a patient uncover the often unconscious patterns of relating to themselves and others in the context of the relationship with the therapist.
Is it hard for you to say no? Is it hard to answer the question “Who am I?” Sometimes it’s so easy to be there for others, and difficult to be there for yourself. If you are in a pattern of empowering others but feeling burned out, you’re not alone and there is hope. There is a way for you to thrive, avoid burnout, and create connections while still being there for yourself. I have seen this transformation happen with my clients, and I would love to talk with you about what is possible.“

Research has shown that the most important factor in predicting successful therapy is the relationship between you and your therapist, but finding the right therapist can be challenging.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, dissatisfied, disengaged from your life and your relationships, or just feel like something is getting in the way of living the life you really want, therapy can help you understand why and learn skills to improve the situations causing you distress now. I use a psychoanalytic and collaborative relational approach to engage your curiosity about how early experiences, unconscious motivations, thoughts, or fears may contribute to your life today. Together, we will work to foster compassion for your struggles and motivation to create the life you desire.

I offer psychotherapy with a touch of magic. I believe that talk therapy can bring healing in a short time. I treat people who have a variety of situations and I am deliberate in achieving better client outcomes. I examine the individual's struggles in dealing with the environment's demands especially during times of crisis. I recognize that stressful experiences can be spirituality exhausting to deal with and I can help you cope. I also use a therapy approach to explore the experiences of the past and change the present.

I believe therapy for couples should be 1.
I teach couples tools and I give homework. My background is in Positive Psychology. People describe me as warm, down-to-earth and they say I have a good sense of humor. I think couples therapy should be uplifting -- and show results. I help all kinds of couples: married and unmarried, straight, gay, and couples soon to marry. I'm dedicated to helping couples overcome their problems. I'm even-handed and I find solutions. (And on a personal note, I've been happily married for 30 years). I combine Positive Psychology, CBT, mindfulness, Gottman, and the best of contemporary psychology. I taught in the medical school at UCLA.

Creating a supportive and trusting therapeutic relationship leads to a model for a healthy support network and internal dialog.
The therapeutic relationship is what drives growth and change in my work. I do not pretend to know what is going on with my clients before they tell me or believe that I know more about their experience than they do. Getting to know my clients is the most important part of my job. Through getting to know them, we create an opportunity for the individual to externally process what often has only been expressed in their own mind, creating space for exploration and a conversation. I do not know what is best for my clients, but I do believe that together we can illuminate a path to experiencing all life has to offer.

I provide therapy to individuals, couples, families and groups.
I am a bilingual (English/Russian) Marriage and Family Therapist. My philosophy focuses on helping people to regain their mental health, recapture peace and attain emotional stability. I use the wisdom of ancient traditions as well as the mastery of prominent psychologists, philosophers, and spiritual leaders. These teachings support my work in revealing the inner workings of the mind-body-emotion balance of my clients. I help people to understand their thoughts and emotions, enabling them to recognize their behavioral patterns. Once these patterns are identified, clients are given the tools to be their own healers.

I offer a warm, playful, non-judgmental space to explore and evolve your own thought processes, relationship patterns, and habitual responses.
The story of our growth is often a story of change — in the layered identities we inhabit, the relationships that anchor us, and the responsibilities we are called to step into. Moving through life changes like separating from a partner, shifting careers, becoming a parent, or losing a loved one can make us feel unmoored and overwhelmed, stranded someplace between who we once were and who we are becoming. I work with my clients to explore the unique complexities, challenges, and opportunities for empowerment that lay inside these vulnerable, vital periods of transition.

Some of the issues my therapy addresses are sexual abuse, relationship distress, depression, childhood trauma, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Emotional and physical trauma, when unresolved, can leave us feeling alone, misunderstood, disconnected and sometimes shamed. It can keep us from forming the relationships we seek and alienate us from the intimacy we might desire. In a non-judgmental way, I engage my clients to help them find meaning and growth through a combination of deep understanding and emotional presence. My approach is attachment-based and focuses on attunement and self-acceptance. When working with couples as well as individuals, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
