Many of the people I’ve seen over the years have been working through increased stress, a difficult transition, or a life or relationship problem they’ve been unable to solve on their own.
I believe that people have a natural tendency to move toward positive change and growth. But life’s struggles and obstacles can derail those instincts. The conversations that take place in counseling can be healing for a variety of concerns and can help people get back on a positive path. As we work together to explore your issues in counseling, there starts to be some “open space” around your problems—like a breath of fresh air—and in that space healing and new growth can occur.

You are juggling many roles in your life, parent, partner, friend, worker, etc. Holding all these roles is making you feel a little lost and you want a space to find yourself again. Maybe you are struggling with not being able to start or continue your family and the grief feels impossible to process. The transition into parenthood or the lack thereof creates a lot of challenges for mothers and the entire family unit. Ranging from anxiety to trauma, these issues can be processed to find yourself again.

I teach skills and mindset shifts to manage relationship issues, anxiety, OCD, and general life dissatisfaction.
Are you feeling overwhelmed? Do you find it hard to prioritize yourself over others? Maybe you're always looking toward the next goal to help you feel more fulfilled, but it never does. You've worked hard to get to where you are, only to feel confused because your success hasn't made you feel content. You're struggling with anxiety, relationships, and feeling dissatisfied with your life. This is a frustrating feeling, but things can get better.

My hope is for us to develop a relationship where you can trust me, be honest with me and feel safe, knowing that I am here to listen, support, and accept you for who you are and will not judge you.
Are you feeling stuck, at the end of your rope, like there's no way out? Please know that you're not alone, you deserve help and you are so worth it! There are options to get the help you need but it starts with you. Many people need help but some are afraid, unable or unwilling to do something about it. We can't expect to see changes if we continue to do the same things everyday. As your therapist, my goal is to help give you the hope and healing you need to reach your goals, to find happiness and to be the best version of yourself. I am here with you in your journey and believe we can grow from our vulnerability.

As your therapist, it's my first priority to build a relationship with clients built on trust and safety.
Have you ever felt stuck, either "on" or "off?" Are you looking for something, but aren't quite sure what, either for yourself or in your relationship? Do you ever feel like you're in some kind of in-between space? Rather than staying stuck there, I believe in the power of a transformative in-between place where we can explore, dig, unburden, turn to goo a little bit, reform, and transform - you know, like a cocoon, because a cocoon is the ultimate "in between" space. That's the kind of space I offer at In Between Counseling, LLC.

I bring a life of faith and experiences into the counseling relationship.
Life is difficult; circumstances challenge each of us and, at some point, we need someone with whom to talk. If you find yourself in this position, and are willing to invest the time and do the work, I would be honored to work with you. Everyone is comprised of biological, psychological, sociological, and spiritual components. If one of those parts are missing or damaged, that person will not be whole, and will experience difficulties. Let us explore this together. For further information, please visit www.SolidRockCounseling.net.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
