I specialize in work with adults and relationships who are struggling with PTSD, CPTSD, depression, anxiety, sexual-identity issues, LGBTQ+, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, burn out, relational conflict, ethical non-monogamy, attachment issues, and with people who generally would like to find more enjoyment in their relationships and lives.
Does it sometimes feel like you just can't get it together? Does it feel like no one can help? I am glad you're here - I am skilled in working with people who have been to therapy previously and may not have had the best experience. I enjoy offering a corrective therapeutic experience aimed at helping you live a more connected life. I have many years of experience working with complex trauma and I am an EMDR certified clinician. Clients who have struggled with other therapists' styles often find my practice and begin to make noticeable changes pretty quickly. I am an engaged therapist with a knack for tracking patterns.

I have specialized training in evidence-based and experiential practices that heavily weigh the mind/body relationship and aim to provide the sense of safety required for change to take place.
We all do the best we can to cope, but sometimes our efforts throw us out of balance. I work with individuals who are feeling the impacts of these imbalances viscerally, either people who are analytically minded who feel emotions are a hinderance or people who are highly sensitive whose feelings can act like an overwhelming tidal wave. Our imbalances can manifest in depression, anxiety, overwhelming stress, or a dissatisfaction with relationships. In our work together you can expect for us to create treatment goals guided by your core values that move you towards clarity and growth.

I am a firm believer that building a strong relationship based on trust, safety, and connection is paramount to effective therapy.
You’ve been feeling a persistent sense of anxiety, overwhelm, and other difficult emotions; the negative self-talk and self-doubt feel constant, the internal pressure and expectation to be perfect or make everyone happy feels draining, the avoidance is growing, and you’re struggling with how to cope. Together, we’ll help you gain the tools you need to feel better, process the ways the past is impacting your life today, and create new, healthier patterns and behaviors. It is possible to find the relief you've been wanting, and feel at ease with yourself, your relationships, and your life.

Making the decision to begin counseling can be difficult and finding a therapist that is a good match can be equally overwhelming. I work to create a comfortable, safe, and supportive environment to make it easier to start the process. Everyone enters therapy at a different place, and I work to meet clients where they are. My approach is primarily relational because the quality of the client-therapist relationship can serve as the catalyst for change.

The idea behind RePair Therapy is renewal. And not just for couples—for individuals too. Maybe you're in a new relationship after a break-up or divorce, and you don't want to make the same mistakes twice. Maybe this is a second marriage (or third, fourth) for you and your partner. Maybe you're divorced, but you still have to communicate and make major decisions with your ex about your children. Maybe you're coping with a new divorce and need to find a way to reinvent yourself and your life. I specialize in Emotionally Focused Couples therapy and take United Insurance.

Not accepting new clients
Every crisis is an opportunity for growth and development. It is by taking risks and surmounting challenges through which real and lasting transformation can occur. Although one of my therapist roles is to provide support, I also challenge my clients to think, feel, and behave differently. As a therapist, I prioritize developing and maintaining an open, nonjudgmental, and trusting relationship with my clients. I strive to be authentic and encourage the same of my clients. I help clients identify and meet their therapeutic goals through the development of insight and new skills.

I am trained and certified as a counselor, coach and educator and have extensive experience working with individuals, couples and families on issues of substance use disorder, compulsive sexual behaviors, relationship issues and wellness.
My passion for over 30 years has been to help people explore, identify and deal with problematic or out of control behaviors and the effects in their lives and in the lives of loved ones. I have always believed that these excessive behaviors have served as one way for people to regulate their moods, their neurochemistry, and to cope with anxiety and fears. In other words, to change the way they feel. I enjoy helping people learn to manage stress and anxiety in new ways. I also love helping people improve their relationship with themselves and others and to develop a deeper sense of meaning and purpose.

You want your relationship to feel alive, engaging, like the both of you are truly partners, lovers, and friends.
As far as anyone can tell, you’ve got a great marriage and life. You’re accomplished, always loving to each other and close with friends and family. But on the inside, you have never felt so alone. Over the years you have tried to rationalize, fix, and excuse your relationship growing apart, yet it is disheartening. Something just does not feel right anymore, and you begin to realize you feel like you have a roommate rather than a partnership. Maintaining a fulfilling and loving relationship can be a challenge in today's fast paced environment.

I love working with adult individuals, couples, and family members who are looking to grow and heal in ways that emphasize their unique human experience and authenticity. This might look like someone who is trying to forge a new path after being stuck in a negative pattern like codependency or perfectionism. It may be a couple who wants to improve communication or deepen their emotional or sexual intimacy. It may be family members who are hoping to resolve past issues to create space for more authentic connection. I tailor my approach to fit my clients' needs while providing a warm, compassionate space for exploration and growth.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
