I look forward to working with individuals and couples as they strive to understand the concept of self and learn how to navigate the interactions that heavily rely on a whole self.
Hello and welcome. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in social work. I am an English speaker but understand Patoi as well. I have particular focus and education in trauma treatment and substance use. I hold an additional license as a Clinical Addictions Specialist. I am trained in trauma interventions to include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). My theoretical background is heavily taken from attachment theories and the importance of recognizing relationships as necessary for healing and developmen.

I work with clients who grapple with anxiety, depression, anger management, relationship struggles, marriage issues, sex addiction, trauma, psychosis, and grief. I view my clients as experts of their own lives and respect their autonomy. Though I provide treatment to people of all faiths or none at all, I integrate the Christian faith into the counseling process for those who appreciate that perspective. I am an EMDR-trained therapist to assist clients with the intensity of traumatic memories.

Primary service population is adults, families, and couples.
For nearly twenty years I have worked in public service because I deeply care about supporting and building healthy communities. I provide a nonjudgmental and warm therapeutic environment, which enables my patients to feel comfortable and trust the process. Only the patient's culture and values exist during session and I have experience successfully utilizing a patient's faith in therapy (previously unknown to me). I like to have fun with everything I do. So we will definitely share some laughs and maybe some tears. We will work together as equals to reach your mental health goals.

It takes a lot of courage to ask for help when you're struggling with life. Working through things alone can be difficult when you don't have the tools and resources to navigate the hard times. My goal in working with you is not to lead you, but rather walk alongside you as a partner in this journey. I love sharing coping skills and strategies tailored to your needs and goals. I am very passionate about meeting clients where they are and walking the path they choose. I graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with my Masters in Social Work in 2015.

I work with adolescents, adults, individual, couples and families experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relational and or spiritual concerns, as well as those seeking personal growth.
No matter what you are facing, the experience of being seen, heard, and understood are just as important as the skills you learn to navigate times of anxiety, depression, feeling lost, confused, needing to recover from trauma, or just plain overwhelmed. In working through these painful places, people experience me as being present with them in it; as caring, and compassionate, while jointly working to identify and address the individual or relational issues contributing to their current difficulty. It is a privilege to journey with you as you reclaim your authentic self, your power, and reestablished personal and relational health.

Remember being little and wanting to grow up? To have your own life and make your own choices? But now it’s a bit more overwhelming than you thought it would be and maybe not nearly as much fun? Adulting is hard. And maybe you still feel like that little kid inside that doesn't have a clue. Perhaps you are struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, toxic stress, or trying to cope with immense grief and loss. Maybe you feel like you are carrying the bad habits and toxic traits you were taught when you were young into the rest of your life.

Difficult times are experienced by everyone, but what matters most is how we deal with those difficult times. We often end up repeating what we do not repair in life. Sometimes we don't even know where to begin! My therapeutic approach is designed to meet you wherever you are in life to find ways to create positive change. My style can be described as genuine, empathetic and client centered, helping to achieve symptom relief but also get to the root source of the problem for lasting positive change. In the uncertain world we live in today, everyone needs a little extra support from time to time. I am a licensed clinical psychologist and have been working in the mental health field for the past 12 years in some capacity (in-patient, outpatient, residential, private practice, and community mental health). I believe that everyone has the capacity for wellness, but obstacles can get in our way and make it seem impossible. My approach is to work with clients to determine the most effective ways to get you to your goals, and I often use humor to help us get there.

We all encounter problems at different stages in life. Some are easy to handle, whereas others leave us hurt, confused, and hopeless. Our brain is an important organ, and it can get sick, just like any of the other organs in our body. What it takes to heal differs between person to person. We will never pretend we know exactly what you are going through, because we aren't you. But, what we can do is help! Being licensed in both Missouri and Arizona allows us to reach out to help even more people. Whether you are looking to move forward from the past, learn to live with loss, handle stress and anxiety/depression better, we can help!

Challenges and unexpected events may leave us overwhelmed, sad, or anxious. Times of transition and change also bring opportunities for growth and insight. Your willingness to seek therapeutic support is a strength, a time to initiate self-care. For some, this may be a change in how you are thinking and feeling. For others, you might be ready to work to find deeper healing through processing your trauma. I am grateful for being able to share my passion for helping others and accompanying you on your journey of healing and self-discovery. Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
