I specialize in working with a variety of concerns from anxiety and depression to trauma, poor self-esteem, self mutilation and couples counseling.
I believe that the most important component of therapy is the genuine connection that is formed between a client and their therapist. This connection forms the foundation for emotional growth and is the most important factor in achieving our goals in therapy. I have an innate ability to genuinely connect with people and provide them with unconditional positive acceptance and support. My therapeutic approach is a mix between the symptom-solving aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness based strategies.

I enjoy helping people work through relationship issues and navigate life transitions.
Offering telehealth and in office services. I have worked with children, adults, couples and families from various backgrounds for over twenty years. I believe in helping people overcome obstacles that are holding them back from being happy, healthy and living their best lives. Everyone faces difficult times in their lives and could benefit from working through those hard times in therapy. Although therapy can be difficult, I believe that building a trusting relationship between therapist and client is key in making it successful and fostering change.

My experience in therapy involves working with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents.
I view therapy as a place for one to be honest with oneself so that they can lead a life that is fulfilling, meaningful, and according to their values. Psychotherapy is a collaborative endeavor that aids individuals in increasing their emotional and cognitive understanding of themselves and gives them a place to come to terms with their losses and be ready to create their own narrative that will give them a better sense of self and purpose.

My purpose is collaborative as I come along side others, much like a hiking partner who travels a section of the trail with a friend.
Each person's life has incredible value. The problem for many is that they fail to see and or recognize their worth and potential. The good news is that regardless of one's circumstances, or problems, change is always possible. It is ultimately up to us to decide who we will be, and what kind of mark we want to make in this world. As a counselor, I see value in each person, and partner with them to help them discover new ways of thinking, acting and believing.

I am also PREPARE/ENRICH certified, which means I’m equipped to help premarital couples learn more about each other, communicate better, and build a strong foundation for marriage.
Trying to figure out which therapist is right for you? I’ve been there...knowing you want counseling, but not knowing where to start. It can be an intimidating time, worrying if your problem is too big or if there’s even hope. During our first session, my goal is to get to know you and create a plan together. I have a passion for working with couples and helping them find healing within their most cherished relationship. In our work together, I help couples find the patterns in their relationship they want to change and create a new way forward. A fulfilling relationship includes being able to be seen and heard by your partner.

I chose this profession from a profound desire to help and a strong belief that we all deserve help and healing. Deciding to seek help is the first brave step towards wellness. Taking positive strides and making healthy changes is what I am here to help with. Developing a warm, trusting, and calm environment is what I strive to provide each and every session. The most important aspect of therapy is developing a healthy therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to share your feelings, thoughts and experiences.

I believe that our relationships with our children and partners are amongst the most important relationships we will ever have.
My approach is caring, collaborative, and practical, helping clients clearly articulate goals and then work to accomplish them. I have a strong belief in everyone's innate capacity for growth and healing and my intention is always to help people access and draw wisdom from this inner capacity. In addition to working with individuals in this way, I also have training in family/ couples therapy, and work extensively with adolescents, couples, and families. I was a Lecturer for 19 years at the University of Michigan School of Social work and taught courses in Family/ Couples Therapy, Adolescent Development and Mental Health.

I also assist couples in navigating their stories, offering a safe space to explore communication, resolve conflicts, and deepen connections.
Everyone has a story—what’s yours? Every day, our thoughts shape our experiences, influencing how we see ourselves and connect with others. If you struggle with people-pleasing, social anxiety, co-dependency, or childhood trauma, you’re not alone. These challenges can be overwhelming, often causing you to wear a mask, hiding your true self to fit in or avoid pain. But this mask doesn’t have to define your story. I offer a space to unpack and heal from the toughest parts of your story, helping you transition from trauma to healing, shame to self-compassion, people-pleasing to self-empowerment, and anxiety to authenticity.

I enjoy working with clients from all backgrounds, with a focus on couples, families, adolescents, and young adults.
Currently offering daytime appointments only I aim to meet the individualized needs of each person, couple, and family I work with and take a collaborative approach in setting goals for therapy. I use a family systems approach to explore how multiple areas of a person's life impacts their experiences and current struggles. I work on achieving these goals through personal exploration, role play and exercises used in and outside of session, implementation of improved communication skills, and boundary setting.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
