I treat a broad age range of clients (1 to 100). I take a developmental and psychodynamic approach which examines early life experiences that affect one's development and current problems. As a marriage and family therapist, I treat both individuals and families, closely examining relationship challenges and providing ways to resolve them between parents and children, siblings, adult partners, and friends. I also specialize in assessment and treatment of trauma, abuse, dissociation, and PTSD. I have a dual approach of treating the source of one's problems and managing current difficulties.

Sex is one of the most exciting and intimate connections we can share with another person. Yet many experience sex and intimacy as a source of frustration or shame. Are you struggling with sexual desire, performance, or confidence? I work with individuals and couples dissatisfied with their sexual functioning or the quality and frequency of their sexual encounters. I specialize in the art of intimacy and helping people embrace their sexual selves.

In fact, the relationship with your therapist is the greatest indicator of positive therapeutic results.
Lady Gaga once said we were born this way, but it doesn't mean we have to live this way. Are you having difficulty maintaining focus and be present? Do you forget things and have difficulty sleeping? Do you struggle with asking others for help, yet always help others? You’re someone who is struggling with the stressors of life, feeling the pressure to be perfect all the time, and can’t seem to get things done. Are you ready to begin looking at yourself to gain a better awareness of where this is coming from? Most of all, you’re ready to live a life that's fulfilling and have the confidence to tackle the things that come your way!

Life is filled with challenges, especially when navigating relationships, whether interpersonal or with systems like CMH, schools, CPS, or healthcare. I specialize in couples and family counseling. With more than 25 years of experience supporting families advocating for their children or adult children with autism, ADHD, or developmental and mental health challenges, These challenges can lead to institutional trauma when system breakdowns cause harm or distress. I consider my self a generalist - meaning a treat a wide variety of mental health challenges, but I do have several specialties including: Grief, Couples therapy, Pre-marital counseling, Teens and treatment resistant depression/anxiety.
NOW ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS! As your counselor, I don’t have all the answers. I can’t make your dreams come true, that extra 10lbs disappear or your marriage happy. But – I can help YOU make all those things happen. Therapy is hard work – I’ll tell you that now. I’ll challenge you, call out nonsense and push you to be the best version of yourself you can be. I will also be your biggest cheerleader, your bulldog and ultimately, your guide. I can’t promise you therapy with me will be easy. But I can promise you if you put in the work, it'll be worth it.

I see a variety of populations, all of which include: Children/youth/families counseling, couples, addiction/substance abuse, behavioral problems, adoption, brown children/youth/adults, grief, anxiety, depression, life stages/obstacles, stress, body image issues, eating disorders, and advocacy.
Hello! Within my first few years of college, I finally figured out what I wanted to do as a career. I realized I wanted to help people through their own life obstacles, trauma, life stages, and more! I want to help others with their mental health and make their world a better place. As I continue to learn and grow throughout my professional career, I want to work with a variety of populations and ages. To me, counseling is a journey of being honest with who you are and who you want to present to the world. I believe that it is an honor to be able to embark on this journey with you and to share unique experiences of ourselves.

I specialize in clients who have to keep it together on the outside but are falling apart on the inside. Suffering in silence is fuel for self-hatred, people-pleasing, self-sabotage, avoidance, anger, shutting down, addiction, detachment, perfectionism, imposter syndrome... If this feels familiar, I assume it’s been absolutely draining. If you have a career or environment that forces you to stay silently ablaze, it's downright hellish. Therapy provides insight into how to get out of the muck; my style of therapy is for the people who want to go deeper and find the way out of the pain, even when it scares them.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
