I specialize in helping those with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief/loss, and pregnancy-related concerns.
The search for a therapist can be overwhelming, but it’s a courageous first step toward improving your life and overall well-being. Often, people know they are not happy, but they need some help to discover why. Since the success of therapy largely depends on how you feel toward your therapist, I strive to create an environment that feels nonjudgmental, safe, and comfortable. I work alongside you in the therapy, guiding you to your own conclusions with thought-provoking questions and comments, rather than telling you what decisions are best for you. Working in that manner helps build confidence in yourself and your decisions.

I am LGBTQIA affirming and specialize in working with couples, as well as adults with ADHD, religious trauma, and career challenges.
Just as we sometimes need help caring for physical aches and pains, we often need help improving our mental health. I am passionate about helping others look inward to learn more about themselves and connect with their inner voice through the power of therapy. At its heart, therapy is as powerful as what you put into it. Being vulnerable can often feel daunting, but by working together, my goal is to help you build the confidence you need to bravely take the reins when you feel like the life you want is just out of reach.

During our sessions, we will build a strong therapeutic relationship and work toward empowered action to help meet your goals.
We all carry stories that need acknowledgement - the things you talk about but more importantly, the things you don't. In addition to my own life experiences, I have worked alongside individuals who have survived trauma, battled with depression and anxiety, mood disorders, and suicidality, experienced significant family conflict or major life changes, and suffered devastating loss. I am here to walk with you through the hard things: past, present, and future.

I work to create an environment that feels warm and supportive for each person. The relationship between the client and therapist is a true measure on how helpful the counseling experience will be for an individual. My goal is to guide and empower clients to make important meaningful changes in their life. I primarily use the methods of strength based and person centered talk therapy to achieve these outcomes. I believe everyone has the capacity to tap into the intuitive part of them self and use that wisdom to improve their life. People do have the ability to make positive changes in their life.

The therapeutic relationship is a powerful means of healing, change and connection.
Welcome! As humans, we are all on a path of healing and growing. We are born with intrinsic worth, but through painful experiences, we internalize untruths. Our work is about creating a new truth by trimming the pain that keeps you stuck in shame, toxic relational patterns, negative thoughts, unhealthy habits and loss of purpose. Collaboration is the foundation of my work. Humans are the experts in their lives, but I do have experience and training in how to help people make the changes they desire, as well as providing compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgmental care.

Whether the transition is the death or loss of a loved one, workplace or financial stress, the birth of a child, or a challenging relationship/family dynamic, we can work together to address those overwhelming feelings.
Even though transitions are a part of all of our lives, they sometimes stir up old pain or are just too overwhelming to navigate without some help. You deserve the time and support to work through it and counseling can provide that for you. I believe in a person centered, interpersonal, cognitive behavioral and strengths based counseling approach. I have over 18 years of experience using these approaches working with individuals of all ages dealing with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, chronic illnesses and transitions at all stages of life.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
