Whether you're a teen, adult, concerned parent or partner I will treat you as the unique individual that you are.
Relationships are a tough, but necessary part of our existence; be it with your partner, family, friends, or even co-workers. By focusing on the ‘here and now’ you can strengthen those present relationships. It’s not that the past and future are irrelevant. The past is what has put you in the present and the present is what shapes your future. I offer a safe and supportive environment for you to focus on what has put you into the 'here and now' and how you can better the tomorrow.

I provide both individual and couples therapy.
If you are discouraged by your current situation, have lost sight of who you are and what makes you special, or if you feel stuck in your interpersonal relationships, it would be my privilege to come alongside you and help foster hope. I love to work with individuals and couples who come from both military and civilian backgrounds, those who seek faith integration in therapy, and those who want to be the best version of themselves that they can be.

As a therapist I have helped individuals, couples, and children who were hurting, find their way to healing.
It takes a lot of courage to open up to someone, when so many people haven’t felt safe. Everyone has a story that deserves to be heard. I am here to listen to your story. It is important. You are important. Allow me to walk alongside you as you unpack what has happened in your life and how to move forward. Maybe it is time for some self-compassion. I am happy to answer questions, and we can take it slow. I hope you will consider moving toward taking care of yourself, and call me.

Transformation occurs when you choose to be intentional and commit to change, even when the journey is unclear or unknown. Approaching change through therapy, unearths pathways to healing. Within the therapy process, my goal is to create an open-minded, safe, and non- judgmental space, that compassionately addresses your concerns. I help adult individuals, couples, and groups who are seeking to redefine adverse perceptions, improve poor boundaries, behavior, coping skills and practices, discover optimal functioning levels, explore the ways one experiences connection, identity, intimacy, and relationships that bring them joy.

Embarking on the challenging path of divorce recovery can often feel like an endless journey, filled with questions that linger and emotions that seem insurmountable. As a seasoned therapist specializing in divorce recovery, I intimately understand the lingering doubts: Does anyone truly recover from divorce? Can the guilt of leaving a partner or spouse ever truly dissipate? How are children affected by divorce? And, perhaps most significantly, do the children ever find peace amid the lingering anger? Having navigated this terrain myself along with my children, I bring a unique empathy to those facing divorce.

I practice from an attachment-based, emotion focused lens with individuals and couples.
Relationships are the fabric of our lives, weaving all of our life experiences together. Bonds of every kind can be challenging, and sometimes leave us feeling rejected or afraid. Out of a desire for closeness, we can sometimes cower or lash out (without knowing why). Let us work together to discover how to find (and keep!) healthy relationships.

I provide therapy for anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and relationship issues (no couples counseling).
Hello, my name is Susana Wilson! I'm excited to meet you and start our therapy work together. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. After completing education and training in grad school in 2010 at IUPUI I provided therapy in a clinical setting and then moved to teletherapy. I have experience in treating patients with anxiety, depression, grief and coping with trauma in the present moment. There isn't "a one size fits all" approach to therapy. I will meet you where you are at. I want to empower you and help guide you through any challenges that arise.

I am educated in marriage and family therapy and am a Prepare and Enrich facilitator which gives me the ability to provide evidence based assessment and treatment for couples.
I work with individuals and couples who find themselves wanting to pursue positive change in their lives. The individuals I meet with seek counseling because they are overwhelmed, stressed, depressed, anxious, grieved and sometimes their symptoms relate back to a trauma history that's been left untreated. The couples I meet with may be seeking counsel in preparation for marriage. In addition I enjoy working with married couples who are committed to their relationship but may be struggling with any of the following: communication issues, conflict resolution, parenting, intimacy and many other concerns.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
