I am trained in EMDR trauma therapy, emotionally-focused therapy (EFT) for couples, and I am also working towards an advanced degree in theology.
Do you feel like no one truly knows you? Do you feel like if people knew the REAL you that you wouldn't be accepted or loved? Depression, shame, and anxiety are all common experiences as we reflect on our unwanted behavior, relational discord, past trauma, and family of origin. The motivation to change becomes all that much harder when you seek it out alone. You want to believe there is hope for a brighter day. Let's work together as we honor your resiliency and work towards healing because the question "what would you prefer?" is worth asking. You want to live a life of freedom. Let's boldly walk into that freedom together.

My practice specializes in helping clients heal from the complicated effects of trauma. For many individuals, the ability to trust and feel safe in their relationships, can present significant challenges. My focus is helping individuals and couples overcome these roadblocks and move forward in their lives. I also work with clients to understand how they can interact with family and children to break the cycle of generational trauma, a concern for many individuals who have suffered trauma. In a collaborative environment, clients are able to learn multiple approaches to healing and overcoming the effects of traumatic experiences.

Finding a therapist that meets your needs and makes you feel comfortable makes all the difference in the therapeutic process. It’s one of the most important factors that impact treatment and recovery. Therapy is a journey that should be shared with someone you’re comfortable with and trust. Working with me you will find a sympathetic and genuine therapist. I partner with my clients and gently challenge them in a safe and nonjudgmental environment. I encourage them to explore their thoughts, feelings, and fears in order to understand the obstacles they are experiencing and help them make the changes that are necessary to improve life

I have had the privilege of collaborating with individuals dealing with a variety of challenges, including complex trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, relationship conflict, eating disorders, and various other mental health conditions that have profoundly affected their self-identity and daily lives.
Therapy is scary, but it doesn't have to be. As a Queer Latinx therapist, I've been where you're at right now, looking to make sense of how you feel, looking for guidance and healing. I have worked alongside and supported individuals with complexities in their lives that have chronic stress, anxiety, and depression, as well as individuals that have been affected by violence in or outside of their home, and those who have been greatly impacted by generational trauma, and community violence. My approach is to meet you where you're at and set goals together to meet your needs.

Not accepting new clients
I work to build a trusting relationship with clients where there is respect, acceptance and understanding.
Do You Need Help? Perhaps you are having difficulties sleeping or concentrating because you can not stop thinking about your problems. Maybe you feel confused, depressed, and angry because you are stuck in unhealthy relationships or patterns of behavior? Do you find yourself asking how did life get so complicated? We all struggle with finding answers for some of life's challenges. Psychotherapy is one of the many ways we can examine our lives and look within ourselves to find our unique attributes and strengths to overcome adversity and thrive.

As a Person-Centered clinician, I use active listening skills, empathic responding & unconditional positive regard to build a healthy therapeutic relationship with my clients to help facilitate continual growth.
So many times we pre-judge situations based on past traumas or conditioning. Entering an intimate space with yourself is no easy task. But with the help of someone you trust, it makes the journey easier to embrace. It is my belief that my job as a therapist is to help my clients connect the dots within their lives in order to enhance their overall mental health. This is done by unpacking, exploring and examining roadblocks from our past that are preventing us from being present in the here & now. This type of awareness helps to foster continual growth & grants access to understanding the story behind our behaviors.

In therapy, my approach is to listen deeply and partner with you in discovering insights.
The artist Coldplay once said: "Everybody knows I'm in over my head." Many of us can relate to that sense. Life can lead us to feel like we are "in over our heads." We feel stuck, overwhelmed, or confused. However deeply you might relate to this, I believe that living life with your head above the water is possible. I believe that together in counseling, we can discover the path out of anxiety, obsessive thoughts, depression, grief, shame, relational conflict, and other barriers to greater wholeness and connection. As a therapist, one of my greatest passions in life is to see people flourish and live life more fully.

I have experience helping couples, and individuals with concerns that consist of anxiety, life transitions, relationship conflict, and sexual/ intimacy concerns.
Relationships, sex, communication, and intimacy are all topics that can feel isolating, and scary. But, with the right supportive partner, it can feel freeing. Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
