For my work with couples, I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy , and I have training to work with Neurodiverse Couples (through the Aspergers and Autism Network).
I am passionate in my work as a counselor because I believe redemption is possible, hope can be renewed, and beauty can emerge from the messiness of life. If you are here because you want to discover (or rediscover) the joy and fulfillment that have been missing in your life, I would love to talk with you! In my spare time I am a potter. I find my work with clay provides a meaningful metaphor for the counseling process as it involves patience, gentleness, messiness, and the potential for growth, beauty, and purpose.

My goal is to help people maximize the pleasure in their life; whether it is working through dating anxiety, finding gender euphoria, opening up the relationship, placing/enforcing boundaries, power exchange, discovering identity, and everything in between.
As a Queer person with ADHD, I want to help neurodivergent people feel more comfortable navigating nuances around sex, sexuality, gender, and relational dynamics. I also have a passion for fostering healthy conversation where partners can safely express their needs, desires, fears, and pain. I want to guide people toward secure attachment so that they feel worthy of love and capable of advocating for their experiences. I strive to reduce shame and reinstate curiosity so that we can have a more mindful connection with ourselves, our bodies, and others. I find reward in working with trauma and its impact on sex and quality of life.

I am a Counselor & Coach working with individuals and couples.
How are you handling your life right now? Life can feel overwhelming creating stress, anxiety, fear, and doubt and leaving us feeling paralyzed and stuck. As we adjust to new seasons of life, there tend to be periods of the unknown with mixed emotions. Life transitions need life skills. This is more of a partnership to navigate through past wounds into a healthier, more stable, and confident future. I also walk with clients with spiritual trauma and fertility issues (including fertility treatments, IVF, miscarriage, and postpartum), as someone who has walked through this myself it's nice to have someone who "gets it".

Research studies have established conclusively that the most important and impactful aspect of counseling is the quality of the therapeutic relationship, regardless of methodologies.
The power of the spoken word, and understanding its limits . . . Incorporating and expanding the impact of talk therapy to include somatic and relational components . . . Collaboration as the path to change and growth . . . I bring this frame to my practice of psychotherapy. If invited, I will join you in your search, as you find and open the doors that beckon to you, or that feel elusive. I am committed to social justice and deep ecology, and maintain awareness of the impacts of privilege, including my own, and of systems of oppression.

My favorite clients to work with are males ages 12 & up, couples, and groups in conflict. For people who are motivated to grow but feel stuck, I've learned the collaborative process of breakthrough can be fun and exciting! Many of my clients have been Christians, finding they preferred to work through important issues with someone who understands and shares their values. However, your faith can play as much or as little of a role as you would like it to during our time together! My clients tend to value a laid-back yet straightforward style, finding courage to pursue curiosity and adventure instead of fear.

I integrate mindfulness practices and trauma-focused therapies to strengthen individuals, couples and families.
Therapy works best when personal stories are heard, and individuals and families construct their own meaning. Through a variety of treatment models like CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and trauma informed models, we work together to identify challenges and to navigate a path that feels healthier. I bring experience working with a broad range of clients from childhood through the lifespan; specializing in complex trauma and helping people navigate transitions like caregiving, relationship changes and family coping and medical complexities that stress family systems.

I also enjoy working with couples! Could your partnership benefit from better communication, greater trust, or a dismount from that same carousel of conflict you find yourselves on again and again? We'll examine the underground workings which wreak havoc on connection and forge a partnership that feels secure, supportive, and life-enhancing.
It can be tough, this being human. Sometimes it can seem we've lost pieces of ourselves, those that provide us meaning, steadiness, direction, and joy. I believe in your brilliance! Whether you've been upended from a major transition or are hoping for greater empowerment in facing your lifelong struggles, I am honored to walk alongside you. Together, we can cultivate deep healing and self-acceptance using mindfulness techniques, tangible skills, and exploration of the patterns, beliefs, and relationships which have shaped your perspective. All of you is welcome here.

We will create goals together and work through those mile markers to help you feel like you are making progress. I have over 15 years of experience in the mental health field and use a multitude of modalities to help guide my clients.

This is challenging but can lead to great adventures! There are a number of therapeutic approaches to use, but establishing a trusting relationship is key.
Hello! Life presents challenges at every age and every stage of human development. Most of the time, people are able to manage these challenges by themselves or with the help of family, friends, coworkers, or neighbors. There are occasions, however, when the usual resources are not enough. That is when a mental health professional can be of great use to an individual, couple or family by identifying existing strengths, skills and resources and helping to develop new ones.

The relationship between client and therapist is essential to successful therapy. I seek to establish an empathetic, trusting relationship with clients, which provides the context for a deeper understanding of oneself and the difficulties bringing them to therapy. From this relational foundation, I work collaboratively with clients to find solutions to their problems.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
