I specialize in strengthening relationships (starting with relationship to self), parenting, divorce or other life transitions, anxiety and depression, and healing childhood wounds.
My guess is that you thought it would be better than this. You've probably done it all "right" and yet aren't feeling fulfilled in your life and relationships, and get stuck in a negative self-identity preventing true joy. I know that you want more connected and authentic relationships, and to get out of reactive patterns that keep getting you stuck. Parenting is hard, communication isn't always effective, and your inner-critic can really get in the way. You want more ease and to let go of the old outdated narratives. When you can understand your patterns, heal the wounds, and be more present, more authenticity and joy is possible!

My approach to therapy integrates evidence-based practices grounded in the psychological literature. I have experience working with adolescents and adults to reduce or eliminate: anxiety, stress, and anger issues; depressive and bipolar mood symptom management; relationship, work, and school issues; problems with rumination and repetitive behaviors, and substance use problems. The structure of sessions varies based on a client's needs and can focus on: processing life events, understanding past and current issues, moving through difficult emotions, or learning skills for sustained behavior change and improved emotional processing.

I work with families, children (0-11), adolescents (12-18), couples, and individuals.
Are you ready to begin your journey of healing? When we keep doing the same thing over and over, hoping for a different result it can be frustrating. It's one thing to see a cycle, but how to break it isn't easy and harder to do alone. Everyone deserves a chance to find peace in their lives and relationships. It can happen! I've worked for many years with parents, children, couples and individuals to change what isn't working and create a life that does work and is free of anxiety, stress, and anger.

Are you and your partner finding yourselves in a repetitive cycle of conflict, feeling increasingly disconnected, frustrated, and alone? You’re longing for better communication, increased trust, and a deeper connection, though you’re at a loss over how to get there. You keep dancing the same dance, but you’re more than ready to change the tempo. I get it. And I’m here to tell you that there is help (and hope) for your relationship.

I work with adults, couples and families - and what remains consistent is the thread of hope we each have to be better, to do better, to feel better. We inherently possess that capacity and therapy can bring about positive transformation. Through therapy and assessment I determine strengths, target goals and anticipated challenges. Collaboratively, we create and execute a customized treatment plan.

As an integrative practitioner, I use a blend of somatic and person-centered approaches to collaboratively build a safe therapeutic relationship, establish goals, and actively engage in weekly treatment sessions.
From time to time, life stressors negatively impact our physical and mental well-being. You may find yourself dealing with complex challenges such as feeling stuck in unproductive patterns, grappling with inner conflicts, or facing barriers that hinder your personal and emotional development in life. Seeking help from a psychotherapist can profoundly contribute to better mental health and achieving a sense of balance, increased self-confidence, and a deeper connection with yourself and others.

Many of my clients enter into therapy with varying levels of ambivalence, fear, and confusion about the therapeutic process. I spend the first sessions getting to know my clients and build a strong therapeutic relationship with them so that they feel safe enough to look deeper into the issues that have brought them into therapy. As the therapeutic process unfolds, I most enjoy helping clients learn to better understand themselves, as well as their environment, and eventually come to a place where they can accept themselves fully. I believe that self-acceptance is the key to living a more fulfilling life.

My work with couples has been influenced by my trainings with couples therapy expert Terry Real (www.
I appreciate helping individuals and couples that just want to live better lives, have deeper relationships, and find more joy in day to day living. Life can be tough. Good therapy offers support, a place to be heard, guidance, and sometimes a place to hear truths that you may not want to hear, but need to hear. I offer a supportive and direct approach to those needing help with sex and relationship issues, anxiety, depression, anger management, trauma, and addictions. I also have a special spot in my heart to support those who have dealt with loss, whether recently or many years ago. Therapy is a space to adapt, stretch, and grow.

I also specialize in collaborative divorce coaching and co-parenting mediation for couples going through separation and divorce.
Seeking Change? I want to welcome you to what might be one of the most important steps in your life. People come to therapy with a problem to which they cannot find a solution. Often it is how the problem is being defined that does not allow a solution. It is then the task of the therapist to help you redefine the problem so you can arrive at workable solutions. Successful therapy helps you move forward with what we can call a new and better "normal".

If you’re finding yourself feeling stuck and overwhelmed by life’s challenges—whether it’s anxiety, depression, major life transitions, or relationship struggles—you might also be dealing with parenting stress, low self-esteem, or the lingering effects of trauma from major events or the accumulation of hurt, resentment, and feeling unheard or unseen. These experiences can disrupt your sense of self and your ability to move forward. You’re seeking compassion, understanding, and support to help you heal, grow, and realign your life in a way that feels true to who you are.

When we feel stuck in our situation, it can create feelings of hopelessness. In addition to the many problems that complicate our daily lives such as anxiety, panic attacks, depression, patients come to me with complex relationship issues including marital distress, divorce recovery, verbal & emotional abuse, loss of child, parent, or spouse. I approach therapy from a holistic perspective, to address the root problem, not just the symptoms. Like physical therapy, the goal is to get well and end treatment. I offer perspective on your experience, and provide clear, concise directions on meeting your treatment goals.

I am a licensed Psychologist and have been providing therapeutic services to adults, children, couples, and families for the past 10 years. Often, I find that clients are struggling to find the right tools for lasting change and are lost in their negative cycles. Individuals are painfully masking their feelings only to realize they are not meeting their full potential. Parents are challenged by their children's never ending emotional struggles that take over the family life. The tools they have are short lived and the emotional struggles persist. Clients are often looking for any sort of relief but unsure how to achieve it.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
