I specialize in working with couples, families, and individuals - whether challenged by anxiety or depression, conflict in relationships, grief, or the lasting impact of trauma - my goal is to help you gain the needed insight to bring about desired change and live your preferred life.
I believe that people are the experts of their own lives. Sometimes, past events or current situations cause upheaval and individuals begin to live according to unhelpful narratives which begin to define who they are or believe they should be. Living according to these unhelpful narratives becomes restrictive and uncomfortable, much like wearing shoes that are three sizes too small.

If you have gone through complex trauma, such as physical, emotional, or spiritual abuse, challenging relationships, or simply the struggles of life, you may find you've lost trust in both yourself and others. Your relationships aren't fulfilling and peaceful. Maybe you're lost sight of who you are and what you want your life to look like. You may also be struggling with anxiety and depression in your daily life. You deserve a space to re-establish trust, redefine your sense of self, change your relationship with the past, and cultivate a meaningful life. I can provide that.

My practice is client-driven, meaning that each session is focused only on the client's needs and goals - not on my personal agenda. I want each client to feel as though they are making measurable progress, so all of my clients are involved in creating their own treatment plan. My approach is straight-forward, compassionate, and non-judgmental. My number one desire is to work with each client to achieve peace, happiness, and hope.

It has been a privilege to work with a wide range of individuals, couples, families, and groups, including children, teens, and adults. When conceptualizing collaboratively with a client, I want to work towards identifying the core, underlying issue. Symptom management is important, but in conjunction with this, we will strive to find the roots of the presenting problem. In this way, we can empower you to be autonomous, empowered, and emboldened.

The care you deserve: Specializing in Equine Psychotherapy, Trauma, Grief and Loss, Anxiety and Depression for Individuals, Couples, and Families.
I listen, act, and transform. Many of us are faced with some very big challenges in today's society, increasing stress, depression and anxiety as we struggle to make sense of what is going on in the world. The realization that there is little we can do to change or control the situation makes things all the more difficult. I help you to see that there is hope and optimism for a brighter future if we take the time to focus on the things that we can change and control in our lives. Results have been amazing for the majority of those I work with, and I would welcome the opportunity to work with you.

Far too often individuals deny themselves the benefit of therapy because they believe that doing so would be acknowledging their own personal faults or weaknesses. As a masters prepared clinician, I provide a nurturing environment whereby individuals feel safe to explore solutions to their current life challenges without fear of judgement. Building a strong, trusting, therapeutic relationship is the foundation for the collaborative work that will take place during sessions. Individuals will feel supported and empowered to address their current challenges, and reclaim their life.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
