My ideal client isn't sure about their relationship with substances. Most people I work with tend to use alcohol, weed, and other drugs to treat their anxiety, depression, and trauma. Others use more than they're comfortable with and want to moderate their use. Lastly, many people I've worked with over the past 18 years have had negative experiences in treatment and felt misunderstood or even mistreated by a profession that's supposed to help
I'm trained and experienced in most traditional, abstinence-based treatment methods. But my specialty is working with treatment-resistant clients. I have 18 years of experience with Harm Reduction and provide a style of counseling that can be hard to find in this area.
I have a very informal style that works well with cultures that typically have bad experiences in treatment, including alternative religions (New Age, Atheist, Agnostic, Wiccan/Pagan). I'm also involved in the Heavy Metal community and use music as a therapeutic tool to help address negative emotions and improve coping skills.
