As a therapist, I strive to build a relationship based on trust and empathetic listening. I have a passion for helping people move through the hardships they might be facing in their lives. I realize therapy is not a "one-size-fits-all" approach and I will work with you to help you build skills that are effective for you. I will help you gain insight into your life, identify negative thought patterns, and challenge you to think "outside of the box". During the time we spend together, we will focus on strength-based and person-centered treatment.
I primarily work with adults and young adults. I have worked with individuals who experience anxiety, depression, grief, suicidal ideation, distressed interpersonal relationships, and severe trauma. I use several therapeutic approaches such as CBT, DBT, and somatic interventions. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Outside of work, I am a member of the Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities and a member of the advisory committee for the Minnesota Disability Law Center. I enjoy spending time with my family, animals, and being next to Lake Superior.
