Life is full of challenges and change is the only certainty. How you deal with challenge can make all the difference in your mood and life experience. I will partner with you, using evidenced based therapies, and help you learn the coping skills and solutions you need to feel better and get the most out of your life. I support patients who are confronting medical issues or caring for someone else who is ill. I also work to promote good health through changing behaviors to prevent illness. Together we can work to make small changes in your thinking and behavior that will have significant and lasting effects on your well-being.

“Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.” – Thich Nhat Hahn. Therapy is a journey we are often reluctant to take. Once we begin that journey, our mind & body become exposed to new thoughts, emotions, and experiences. My goal as a therapist is to assist the client to focus on developing achievable goals, coping strategies, problem solving skills, and alleviating symptoms related to life’s social & emotional challenges. Together we will create a treatment plan which will meet your social & emotional needs.

My approach to psychotherapy is focused on increasing self-understanding and changing longstanding patterns in thinking, feeling or relating to others that are no longer working. I view psychotherapy as an open-ended, collaborative relationship aimed at helping individuals look inward to find new solutions, develop healthier patterns and achieve emotional balance. My treatment philosophy is based in the Bio-psycho-social Model, in which a person's problems are understood in the context of their unique biological, psychological, social and environmental influences, and therapeutic approaches and interventions are chosen accordingly.

I am a psychotherapist, working with children (playtherapy), adolescents, and adults, in individual, couples, family therapy, and groupwork. I blend techniques from the psychotherapeutic and meditational traditions, to guide you right to the place where tension and confusion are causing your energy to be 'knotted', and facilitate a break-through. The freed energy becomes available to support you in creating your life, and your relationships, in the way you aspire to.

Anxiety is natural, and affects us at any age. It has been characterized as "My over-estimation of the danger in a situation, and my under-estimation of my ability to handle it." Avoidance is the easiest response, and understandable. It is also the response that gets us in trouble, and keeps us away from many of life's best experiences. Paralyzing panic before a big presentation. Don't start a conversation with that "person of interest" in your Chemistry class. Don't do that important homework for tomorrow, because Youtube is calling for escape. We can end up not living to our values, or our hopes. Freedom is calling.

In the eternal words of Mahatma Gandi "the future depends on what we do in the present." If you are viewing this profile then you are probably looking for some insight and/or strategy to help you make some positive change in your life. Whether you are striving towards obtaining some goal(s) or trying to resolve emotional pain or stress, psychotherapy can help you feel better today and positively shape your future. An essential component in the success of therapy is having a good fit between patient and therapist. Additionally, the training, and expertise of the therapist matters greatly.
