As a Chicago Police Officer with over twenty-four years of experience and active membership within, the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association, the American Counseling Association, the Illinois Counseling Association, the Illinois Mental Health Counseling Association, and past member of the Rosecrance Florian Advisory Committee, I have demonstrated a passion for working with the first responder community. Through my varied work-related experiences and clinical training, I've discovered a keen desire to interpret the dynamics of human behavior and aid those who are trained to protect and serve others.
In terms of treatment approach, I favor client-centered counseling, which identifies the client as being the best authority on his or her own experiences. My goals as an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) trained clinician are to gradually re-introduce clients back into society with a greater understanding of themselves.
As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Level 2 (CCTP-II) who has experienced traumatic events as a Police Officer and in my personal life, I bring a unique therapeutic perspective to my professional practice. To achieve positive change through the use of empathy, acceptance and genuineness, we must be willing to step outside our comfort zone.
