For 20+ years, I have enjoyed working with a diverse population of all ages from a variety of backgrounds. My clients have shaped how I practice. I work from a cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, trauma-informed foundation. I help clients develop and integrate new patterns into their lives that can bring them out of crisis, enhance their lives, and help them transition into their 'new normal'. I encourage clients to focus on what they can control, to activate in positive ways, and to problem solve. I'm chronically optimistic, and like to integrate humor and fun into sessions.

Asking for support can be difficult and intimidating. It’s important to find the right fit between client and therapist. I create a therapeutic environment that is client directed and immediately focuses on the goals that you want to achieve. My agenda is YOUR agenda, and we will move at the pace you desire! I believe everyone’s life is just that… their life and no one else’s. While we often cannot control the cards we are dealt, we can learn to determine and control how we respond to them and what decisions we make with them.

Everyone is different and that's okay. We all struggle and that's okay. We all deal with difficult and hard times and sometimes we just need a little support. During our journey together we will travel those difficult areas in life while discovering those personal strengths you already possess. My hope is that through a strong relationship built on trust, understanding, and even a little humor we will find a level of healthy freedom. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Addictions Counselor, and Registered Nurse. My approach to health and well-being is rooted in the belief that we have within us the capacity to live satisfying, engaged, empowered, joyful, and meaningful lives. I help my clients get to the root of what is holding them back, and transform limiting patterns so they can live a happy, healthy life. My style is compassionate, direct, supportive, and creative.

I have experience providing therapy for individuals with varying issues from all backgrounds and walks of life. Improving communication, reducing conflict, and building empathy is always a focus of couples counseling and family therapy. Relational patterns are also explored in individual therapy, and the person’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are examined to improve well-being. In addition to therapy, I have thousands of hours of experience in psychological testing with children and adolescents. Those tests evaluate cognitive, emotional, and interpersonal functioning.

Whether you are experiencing difficulty in relationship, grieving a loss, attempting to change behaviors that are no longer serving in your best interest, struggling to manage difficult emotion, or navigating the complicated waters of parenting, I consider it a privilege to come alongside you as pursue life more fully.

Trying to manage life alone can have devastating results. My desire is to help connect people back to the Father and to therefore see them thrive in such a way that they become healthy, healed positive agents for change in their families and communities. My goal is to help people thrive in their spiritual, social, mental, emotional and practical lives. While enjoying individual therapy, I also offer couples counseling, alongside my Bride of 20+ years, Te Anna, a licensed therapist. We have noticed that when we counsel couples together it provides more of a balanced kingdom perspective for the relationship. Telehealth also available.

Everyone tells a story: "I am a success," "I am content with my life," "I am a failure," or "no one cares about me." If your story is increasingly negative, perhaps we should talk about it. I use narrative therapy, which helps you separate yourself from your problems and then conquer them. It's like rewriting your story; your problems become the villains, and therapy helps you defeat them. In addition to narrative therapy, I am also an EMDR Level I & II practitioner, a therapy which helps you to reprocess traumatic memories so that you are no longer triggered by them. Our practice is accepting new clients.

The ideal client will appreciate my foundation in Christianity as my guide to viewing decisions, relationships, success, marriage, children and more, however, this belief is not required for clients.

I consider each client to have their own unique life story and experiences and tailor my approach to their specific counseling needs, interests, and desires.
