I have experience providing therapy for individuals with varying issues from all backgrounds and walks of life. Improving communication, reducing conflict, and building empathy is always a focus of couples counseling and family therapy. Relational patterns are also explored in individual therapy, and the person’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are examined to improve well-being. In addition to therapy, I have thousands of hours of experience in psychological testing with children and adolescents. Those tests evaluate cognitive, emotional, and interpersonal functioning.

Trying to manage life alone can have devastating results. While enjoying individual therapy, I also offer couples counseling, alongside my Bride of 20+ years, Te Anna, a licensed therapist. The Community Counseling Center at Colorado Christian University offers evidence-based professional counseling to individuals and families struggling with an array of mental health problems. Our staff of highly trained master’s-level and doctoral-level clinicians have extensive experience integrating faith-based principles into ethical clinical mental health treatment. We provide treatment for: trauma, veteran-specific issues, adolescent behavioral and emotional issues, marriage and family related issues, substance abuse, mood disorders, personality disorders, and other general mental health issues.

I have 25 years of clinical experience. I also address issues of depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, serious illness and trauma. I consider myself a christian counselor and believe that a persons religious and/or spiritual beliefs can be an asset in making changes and moving forward.

I view counseling as a dynamic process between a client and therapist. My theoretical orientation is dependent upon what would be most appropriate for the client. I view each client as unique and I use techniques that are designed to meet that client's specific needs. I listen carefully to my clients so that I can empower, confront when appropriate, teach, encourage, and guide them so they can grow emotionally, spiritually, psychologically and socially. I respect the clients I work with. I want people to participate in a healing process without fear that they will be judged or coerced.
