I use psychodynamic (exploring unconscious thoughts/feelings and the impact of the past on the present) and cognitive behavioral approaches in exploring what is working/not working in current problem-solving.
Many people struggle with uncertainty in handling new situations or resolving old problems. You may be experiencing difficulties in your relationships with family, friends, bosses and coworkers, or struggling with long-term issues related to difficulty achieving personal goals, grief and loss, depression and anxiety, or other issues. Past ways of dealing with problems may no longer be working and/or have become self-defeating. Please contact me to discuss how psychotherapy might help you make different choices as you deal with current life stresses, or long-standing problems.

I utilize interventions stemming from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Trust Based Relational Intervention, Trauma Informed Care, and others.
Life is full of transitions and beautiful experiences. The constant and unpredictable changes can sometimes be difficult to navigate alone. It's during the most challenging times when we have exhausted ourselves, we succumb to feelings of isolation and hopelessness. Our emotions can lead to a detrimental cycle of negative self thoughts, anxiety, depression and so forth. I'm letting you know today, you have options and more importantly, support. While we cannot change our past, I am a firm believer we can learn and grow from it.

I am a student in Somatic Experiencing Beginning I, trained in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), IMAGO, DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), IFS (Internal Family Systems), EFIT, and expressive therapies.
What drew me to the counseling field was my passion to advocate for people who have experience trauma (relational, spiritual, physical, sexual, emotional, and more). I take an integrative approach, meeting you wherever you are in the process and tailoring treatment based on my extensive training in trauma modalities. I cherish this process and helping survivors heal. As a mother of two, I have plenty of material to pull from and am equally passionate about working with parents, especially those who are facing parenting transitions and blended families. With support, validation and humor, I can help make parenting fun again.

I use techniques ranging from cognitive behavioral approaches to dialectical, to EMDR when appropriate.
I believe the most important part of therapy is a relationship that is non-judgmental, open, and warm. I want our time together to be collaborative. I want to understand what has worked for you in the past and what you’d like to focus on in your future. I grew up in Louisiana and started my training in New Orleans, where I worked with clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

As a trauma-informed therapist, I provide evidence-based treatment modalities to treat PTSD and trauma, such as EMDR and CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy).
Over the past several years, I have been privileged to witness and guide the healing journeys of many women and families recovering from the effects of trauma, abuse, life stress, and grief and loss. Intrusive thoughts about what happened, outsized reactions to normal life stress, relationship issues, and anxiety and depression are normal reactions to what happened to you then, but they no longer serve you now. As a trained and experienced trauma counselor, I can help you heal without the blaming and shaming messages you might have heard in the past from well-meaning friends, family, clergy, or even counselors.

I integrate techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Reality and Solutions Focused Therapies to help clients challenge maladaptive thinking patterns.
Hello, my name is Delora I believe that people may sometimes need help in many areas of their lives, therefore I treat with a Person-Centered, wholistic approach. With this approach the therapist treats the whole person and is instrumental to the changes of the client but is not directly responsible for any change.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists
How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?
Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.
When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?
It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.
How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?
To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.
Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?
CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
