My theoretical orientation is CBT/DBT but believe in meeting the client where they are at with interventions.
I am here to help. My experience has been working with adolescents and adults who are having a difficult time managing symptoms of mental health or adjusting to life's stressors which can feel overwhelming. I have experience working with people who have experienced invalidation and childhood emotional neglect which have resulted in Complex Trauma. I enjoy working with young adults on life transitions as well as I remember how difficult that time in life can be. I offer a nonjudgmental perspective and a helping voice with a willingness to support.

I am extensively trained in EMDR, TF-CBT (Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy), child-centered play therapy, and filial family therapy.
I believe in the importance of sharing knowledge about the mind-body relationship of trauma, panic, anxiety, and depression, to help my clients understand what they have been experiencing and why, and how to move forward. My specialties are school-aged children and adolescents and their families, and young adults, but I do trauma-focused therapy with all ages. My clinical interests include trauma, anxiety, panic, depression, and transitional stress, whether that be exploring or revealing sexuality and/or gender identity, developmental transitions, managing increasing expectations of early adulthood, or navigating life changes.

My approach in psychotherapy is a holistic, Adlerian approach with an emphasis in mindfulness and CBT interventions.
A client who would be a good fit who is an individual or family that want to go to therapy. I don't have preferences when it comes to ages and genders or sexuality. Although kids and teens have gravitated towards me because of my playful nature, and creativity in sessions. I find myself drawn to working with individuals who often people please, carry feelings of guilt, self doubt, and low self esteem. I enjoy watching others identify boundaries and help implement them. I work best with people who are open and curious in trying new things. Let collaborate and reach those goals!

Danny's approach to counseling is grounded in Reality Therapy and CBT.
Danny is a big believer in helping people become their best form of self. He believes that there should be a consideration for what each individual considers to be success and applying that idea to his approach with each client. Each therapeutic relationship is treated with the respect of no two people being the same. He understands the anxiety that comes with expressing one's most vulnerable aspects of self and enjoys assisting people on the journey to embracing the facets of themselves that they struggle to appreciate.

It takes courage to be seen during a time of difficulty and to seek out support in therapy. I strive to provide a safe, loving, non-judgmental environment in which growth can occur. Through therapy clients learn appropriate coping skills, learn new approaches for addressing their challenges, and learn how to communicate their thoughts and feelings. I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities from play and art to help young children communicate what they may struggle to do verbally, to cognitive behavioral, solution focused, and narrative therapy for older clients.

I use research-proven CBT techniques to help you overcome your current struggles and develop skills to better cope with future problems.
Are you enjoying your life? Or merely enduring it? I know that doing a simple search for a therapist may seem like a small thing, but it's the first step that is going to lead to major improvements in your life. I'm here to help you with the next steps. Odds are you found me because something just isn't going right. Or maybe a lot of things aren't going right. Issues like anxiety, depression, and interpersonal problems can make the struggles of daily life seem nearly unbearable. It can seem like even the sunny days are obscured by a cloud that dulls any sense of contentment. I hear you. The good news is, I can help.

I draw upon multiple evidence-based therapies including Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, DBT-informed skills, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and sensorimotor psychotherapy.
Depression, anxiety, relationship conflict, loss, and traumatic events all have the ability to disrupt our lives, interfering with a clear focus on what is truly fulfilling and rewarding. I believe that each person has the ability to deeply connect with their unique life perspective to clear the confusion, develop their own internal wisdom, and begin living life more fully.

I utilize CBT, DBT and mindfulness techniques throughout my practice.
Throughout life, people face various obstacles. These obstacles may feel overwhelming and sometimes, insurmountable. Working with a therapist who is a good fit is a magnificent strength to help during these times. I work to create a safe environment to foster development of healthy communication skills and emphasize how to utilize support systems and healthy coping skills. I have experience working with adolescents in a school setting, in day treatment, in group therapy, and in an outpatient individual treatment setting. I have also worked with adults in a day treatment setting in addition to outpatient therapy.

I often pull techniques from: cognitive behavioral Therapy (CBT), and use techniques like EMDR and Prolonged Exposure therapy to support your growth and progress.
Coming in and opening up about your past isn't easy, but living with your trauma hasn't been easy either. Getting up each day is an enormous task, you push yourself, but every movement feels heavy and deliberate. At work and home it’s hard to concentrate. Your mind keeps drifts to the trauma, replaying scenes and feelings. You're frustrated with yourself for not being able to function like you used to. You try to relax, but your mind is restless. You attempt to watch TV but it’s hard to focus. Lying in bed, you struggle to calm your mind. You feel alone in your experience, even though you know others care about you.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
