I partner with adults working through complex trauma, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, codependency, and family of origin issues.
Accepting New Clients! As an EMDR-trained trauma therapist, I help teens, adults, and couples explore pain, expose fear, and experience healing in a real and lasting way. You're probably thinking that something has got to change. You feel stuck, empty, hurt, angry, or just altogether lost in a sea of overwhelming feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. You've been nervous to ask for help, let alone discuss, the difficulties of navigating life and trying to "keep it all together" when things don't feel right at all. Pehaps it's time to try something new.

I help adults 18+ with low self-esteem, Imposter syndrome, complex trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, codependency, grief, adjustment issues, resilience development, and emotional regulation.
"Life be lif-ing" is the statement that comes to mind when I think about the ups and downs, we experience in our lifetime. Many of us can relate to the overwhelming feelings of sadness or the constant feeling of anxiety. With life can come trauma and pain, which can cause anger, bitterness, and an array of different emotions. You may even think to yourself, "I'm not good enough," "Something is wrong with me," or "I can't do hard things?" As a trauma-informed therapist who utilizes a mix of CBT and EMDR, I target these beliefs and feelings and provide various coping tools to help clients grow and be their best selves.

Wanting to feel confident, content, and connected? It can feel so challenging and helpless when faced with anxiety, stress, and internal negative thoughts. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, feeling stuck, or recovering from people-pleasing or co-dependent relationships, I would love to collaborate with you towards healing. Often our negative thoughts and beliefs about ourselves impact our relationships. If this describes your story and you are seeking a safe place to process, desire to be heard, and are willing to learn tools and skills to make change you're in the right place.

Have you tried talk therapy but still feel stuck? I am an artist and art therapist with over 35 years of personal recovery. My background is in 12 Step models, Jungian psychology, family systems and lots of art making experience. YOU DO NOT NEED ART TRAINING OR TALENT TO BENEFIT FROM ART THERAPY. Because art is a right-brained function, art therapy can be especially useful to people who are "too smart" for talk therapy. I have also begun using art to process trauma as well. Interested? Schedule an assessment!

You've never really felt like you are enough. Sure, you've been successful in school, at work, and well, at life... for the most part (at least it looks that way to other people). But deep down, it has always felt like there is something missing... something wrong - and you wonder if maybe there's actually just something wrong with you. You push your feelings down. You stretch yourself too thin, work too hard, and just can't say "no." You worry about what other people think of you and hope that you're enough for them. You wish it could stop - that you could feel good enough to have happiness and love and actually feel worthy of it.

Are you the one in your family/circle who has "made it" and now you have become the exhausted rescuer for the people you care about? Are there relationships in your present or past that need to be put to rest so they can stop showing up in your thought life? Have you realized some emotional triggers but not sure what to do next? Are you tired of feeling emotionally overwhelmed? Wouldn't it help to have a place you can go to process how to create healthier expectations? Would it help to have a confidential place to figure out how to work through stress without having to babysit someone else's response?

If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, I hear you. If you want to make changes to live a happier and healthier life, I can help you do that! I don't tell people what I think they should do; I work collaboratively with folks to make small changes that add up so you can reach your goals, feel proud of yourself, and add to your coping skill toolbox. I am a licensed professional counselor with 10 years of experience working with a wide variety of clients and concerns, primarily in an acute care hospital setting. I'm not intimidated by mood swings, intrusive thoughts, anger, or substance use. You won't be "too much" for me.

Sound familiar? You appear to “have it all together” and fear if anyone knew how hard you were working, how inadequate you felt, or how you truly see yourself it would all unravel. You're worried one more thing on your plate would send you into a crisis, and you already feel like you're drowning in overwhelming thoughts & feelings. You're creative & resourceful at finding ways to cope with the stressors of life, but these methods ultimately make things worse in the long run. Maybe this shows up as anxiety, “never good enough” feelings, perfectionism, doing-it-all, unhealthy eating patterns, overachieving, people-pleasing & avoiding.

Codependency Therapists

What therapy types help with codependency problems?

Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?

Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?

Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?

One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
