The issues I have the most experience working with are substance use, body dysmorphia, relationship distress, grief, trauma, and behavioral challenges.
For as long as I can remember, human connection has been a passion and priority in my life. I have been working in the mental health field since 2017 and have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of populations including: young children, adolescents, teenagers, adults, premarital and marital couples, and families. I have experience working at different levels of care including outpatient, partial hospitalization, and inpatient facilities. I work from a collaborative and systemic perspective considering all of the inter-moving parts that may be impacting what is going on and together, we decide on the best course of action.

Whether you are new to therapy, have found yourself stuck in previous therapy or are somewhere in between, welcome. I work to support and nurture those experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD challenges, trauma, substance use, stress/burnout, life transitions, relationship issues, self esteem, or a lack of sense of self. Many of us have felt a sense of invalidation in our lives and currently struggle with reaching our goals or becoming our true potential selves. Through my 18 years working in the field, I've developed a style that is balanced between being validating and nurturing along with being direct and challenging.

I offer guidance to a wide range of concerns - sexuality and intimacy, substance use and recovery, stress management/skill-building, and trauma work.
Hello and welcome! The human journey is inevitably messy at times. Despite the chaotic and confusing, there is always beauty to be discovered. I believe that every individual is deserving of connection, compassion, healing, and growth - even you! Sometimes it's hard to believe this for ourselves - oftentimes it's even more difficult to know where to start. It may be relieving to hear that you already have the resources within you waiting to be accessed. My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that creating a safe space for authenticity and collaboration will help us to explore and navigate your unique path to healing.

Trauma, grief, stress, and life transitions significantly impact our lives and functioning. If unaddressed, these challenges can feel unmanageable. They can cause you to feel hopeless, misunderstood, ashamed, and isolated. They can cause you to feel trapped in patterns of emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, patterns you adapted to cope and survive, but which may no longer serve you. I believe all humans have an immense capacity to heal and grow. I also know that sometimes we get stuck and can benefit from some extra support. If you are feeling stuck, I am here to support you with finding your way out.

Did your family trigger the hell out of you over the holidays? Maybe you noticed things about your family dynamics you never noticed before. Are you and your partner struggling to communicate effectively when there is an issue, and you end up lashing out or withdrawing? Often time, when a partner has an unexpected reaction to a request or a comment, this will trigger feelings of being a burden, unloved, not good enough, or that you’re too much. I imagine when you feel this as a result of your partner's response, you respond by either pursuing your partner for answers to why they behaved that way or you withdraw from them. This is a typical cycle in relationships and can lead to feelings of loneliness, depression, anxiety, and distrust and can lead to unwanted behaviors.

I work with adults, teens, transition age youth, and their families. I help them manage anxiety, depression, trauma, and behavioral concerns. This includes high achievers struggling with perfectionism/anxiety, depressed clients where brushing their teeth in the morning was a success, those going through or post a divorce, families who are struggling to get along or function, and anyone experiencing a change in life that causes stress. It is my aim to help clients understand both themselves and their relationships more fully.

Relationships evoke our deepest longings and fears, and touch on wounds that may have been long hidden, wounds which we’ve often lived a lifetime without recognizing. The pain of disconnection we feel in relationships, the heated arguments and periods of distance or alienation, can leave us lost and confused, stuck in emotional knots, with our desire for closeness vying against our protective reactions. Cycles of conflict may escalate, and with them, the pain. All the while, deep down, we quietly long to share ourselves more honestly and fully with those whom we are closest to.

Substance Use Therapists
How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.
How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.
How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
