I have been a counselor for 40 years, working with individuals, couples, families and groups with psychological as well as addiction issues. I have extensive experience in inpatient as well as outpatient settings. I am eclectic in my evaluation and treatment methods, which gives me flexibility to treat individual needs. Primarily, I use cognitive-behavioral techniques. Many of my clients suffer with depression, anger, and anxiety (panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder); all of which impact potential addictions. I also treat couples and families to better understand their dynamics and to improve their communication skills.

Welcome. My name is Trey, and I’m glad you’re here. You can expect to be heard, validated, and encouraged with me as your counselor—and you can expect to be challenged in areas where more insight or action is needed for you to reach the tipping point that leads to breakthrough moments. I approach counseling from an integrative model, with a particular emphasis in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I believe counseling is highly relational, and once a strong therapeutic relationship is formed we identify your specific goals and work towards them.

It isn't easy to begin therapy, to go to a person you don't know and trust that they will understand and can help. My approach is to provide a safe and accepting space; not to judge or presume I know what you need. Together we can try to understand and adjust what may be getting in the way of feeling happier, more confident, and achieving your goals. There may be patterns you've noticed that aren't working well for you; or intense feelings you don't understand; or act in ways that may be harmful to you or others. You may have negative thoughts or chatter in your brain you can't shut off.

Hello, I am Chloe. My approach is collaborative, strength-based, and inclusive. I work with adults to reduce suffering, enhance life satisfaction, and to foster exploration, growth, and empowerment. I aim to create a warm, genuine, non-judgmental space where clients can feel safe experiencing their emotions, exploring their needs, and developing a life consistent with their goals and core values. I will work with you to address the patterns in your life that keep you from feeling fulfilled or living authentically. As your guide, I would bring research-based therapeutic treatments to the journey including EMDR (one of the leading trauma therapies), ERP (gold standard for OCD), CBT/ACT (talk therapies for anxiety, depression, etc.
Negative beliefs about ourselves can keep us trapped in our bodies and minds, and when our inner critic is at the helm, we can go down spirals that seem to cement our beliefs of not being good enough, lovable enough, successful enough, etc. You may logically know these harsh thoughts are untrue, but if there is a disconnect between mind (I know this isn’t true) and body (but it feels like it is), you are not alone- and there are steps you can take to find harmony between mind, body, and soul. As your trauma-informed therapist, I would be honored to be your guide for this integration process.

Many people seek therapy because something in their life is not working. It may be something at work, relationship with spouse, family members or friends. They feel frustrated and depressed because they are unable to be effective in managing problems. Over time these problems can lead to sadness, stress, anxiety, difficulty sleeping and changes in mood. Therapy can help you identify the things that are not working and assist you in developing strategies for solving your problems. Being able to solve problems and improve the quality of your life will lead to happiness and a feeling of empowerment.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
