Since 1984, relationships have been the focus of my practice. I'm so glad you're looking for support to enhance and deepen the trust and intimacy of yours. We've learned a lot about what it takes to help couples create and sustain healthy relationships today. The stresses of life make ruptures and upsets inevitable. It is a choice and a skill to repair at these times and strengthen your bond. I love helping relationships change and blossom with new understanding and with an opportunity, with guidance, to learn and practice the skills that develop and sustain a loving relationship that supports the ongoing growth of each person.

Say yes to life. If you believe it, you can achieve it. Sometimes it just feels better to have someone help with the navigation to get from where you are to where you want to be. "The way out of a negative feeling is a positive decision followed by action". To quote Dr. Patricia Allan Ph.D. Maybe you have discovered another layer of trauma, anger, depression, anxiety, relationship or job dissatisfaction that keeps you from wanting to get out of bed in the morning? Change can happen in your relationships with yourself and with others and in your job performance. Change starts here.

Therapy then is essentially a cure through love - Frued. I specialize in the neurodivergent and often the first-timers. I especially enjoy working with kids and young adults on the spectrum, successful women who may have ADHD, and those who have never tried therapy before but think maybe it might be for them and are coming in with no pre-conceived notions of what therapy has to be. I am also completing my doctorate in Sport and Performance Psychology and work with high performers, especially those who are neurodivergent.

Pause and ask yourself when was the last time you took a mini mental vacation from stressors or shortened the distance between others and you with a shared meme or joke? Want an easy to talk to therapist that values laughter? I am trained in trauma-focused therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and other evidence-based practices. My background includes working with at-risk youth and their families, including those involved in both the juvenile justice and foster care systems; crisis intervention; adults, both individually and as couples; active-duty service members and veterans; and law enforcement and other first responders.

Thank you for visiting my profile, and consider calling me for a free 15 minute consultation. Life often feels overwhelming and this can turn into anxiety, depression, and difficulties in relationships. Therapy is your safe space to talk about how you're feeling, explore your life history, identify the challenges you currently face, and recalibrate your life. You deserve to have feelings of hopelessness turn into hopefulness, low self-esteem become confidence and self-determination, and make time to take care of yourself. Think of your life as a book to be written and you are the author. If you don't like a chapter, rewrite it.

My background is in school counseling and my passion is working with teens/kids. I worked for 3 years as a school counselor before switching to my LPC and doing private practice. There I also focused my practice on meeting the needs of teens/kids and working with families as well. I most recently worked in the community with a foster care agency, again working with kids/teens before going back to private practice. I do enjoy working with teens/families but also see individuals of all ages as well as couples.

We all know the signs – a heavy heart and a restless mind. Sleepless nights, joyless days, grumpiness, stress. constant crisis, overwhelming emotions. It's not working. But there's a way that works. Therapy works. You can calm those big feelings and make good choices. My clients and I work together like a basketball team moving the ball down the court. We pass the ball back and forth, sharing ideas, noticing themes, clarifying values, shaping your vision until you’re ready to take the shot. My approach is deeply collaborative and research-based. I’m strongly informed by CBT, DBT, Hypnosis, EMDR, Polyvagal and Neurodivergent Theory.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
