Do you feel something is wrong but you don't know what? You feel disconnected, anxious, depressed. Therapy can help. When symptoms that disrupt your every day life have begun showing up, it is time to reach out for help. You may notice that these symptoms can be felt even in your body. This can feel like tightness and constriction in various places in the body. These bodily sensations are the cues that you are giving yourself that something about your life doesn't feel right. Now is the time to listen to yourself. I offer Telehealth counseling, walk and talk and therapy, and individual counseling retreats.

I believe an excellent therapist meets every client where they’re at. Navigating this world with presence and grace is more accessible and meaningful with someone to help process your experiences. We all need someone to talk to sometimes, and I strive to create an integrated and unique safe space for each client to unfold their narratives, fears, hopes and discover their untapped resources. Many people grapple with traumatic stress. It can interfere with our lives, relationships, and overall well-being. Ignoring or suppressing it may be tempting but will only make it worse.

Crisis, Transition, Trauma, Anxiety, Decision Making, Communication Skills, Boundaries, Spirituality/Mindfulness, Developing Relationship with Self, Retooling Marriage/Relationship, Emotional Intelligence Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Clinical Hypnosis, Matrix Remimprinting.
17 years in practice. Experienced with adults, couples, and families in transition, or experiencing disappointment with life. An important question we explore is: "How are the events in my life trying to expand me?" This is a powerful question, much more so than, "Why me?" I draw from psychological theory, neuroscience, and spirituality/mindfulness to help re-frame, unhealthy patterns and foster acceptance and compassion for self. Hypnosis strengthens the process. We explore in a safe and loving environment that enables one to look more closely at their own behaviors and thought patterns without defensiveness.

Sometimes the issues and struggles we encounter in life are almost impossible to resolve on our own. Whether it’s depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, lack of purpose, deep loss, or something else - you deserve personal guidance and support through the hardships you encounter. I offer a safe place where you can be yourself and learn powerful tools to manage and overcome life's stressors. I'll guide you in discovering the deeper currents that are influencing your life, and together we can get you unstuck by using an integrative body/mind approach that will take you beyond simply trying to "think your way to better."

Many clients are in crisis and seeking assistance with a specific issue: Divorce, Grief, Addiction, Depression, Medical Diagnosis, Anxiety, or Life Transition. Therapy helps treat the turmoil that is the natural result of these issues. The skills developed during therapy help clients live full, happy and rich lives. Clients generally arrive with a specific personal crisis. I work in unison with clients to facilitate a deeper, richer, sense of identity. Each individual is held from a perspective of capability, competency, and resiliency, that bring about a sense of continuity and recognition of their authentic self.

We humans are complex beings with many layers of experience, and the support we seek in times of need must encompass this complexity. I support individuals and couples who are navigating anxiety, depression, grief, anger, spiritual questioning, and life transitions. I work with clients to transform limiting beliefs and create a more conscious and mindful life. My style of coaching is a good match for people who want to cultivate greater self-understanding, improve communication skills and interpersonal dynamics, engage in envisioning & goal-setting, and understand how past experiences are impacting present-day life.

My role as a therapist is not independent, but a partnership. I am a collaborator and facilitate exploration as a means of helping to determine what best serves you and helping you to empower yourself to make desired changes. I understand that it can be awkward or stressful to make the call or take the step to talk to someone. I will do my best to help you feel safe and comfortable with me. Confidentiality is sacred. If you should find that I am not the therapist for you I will help you find someone who would be a better fit for your needs.

I believe that all of us want to live meaningful lives, connected to loved ones and contributing to the world in some way. To do so, we must learn to fully accept ourselves, connect with others in healthy ways, and develop our unique gifts. My intention as a therapist is to create a warm and safe space for you to do the brave work of addressing past wounds, updating stories that keep you small, and helping you grow a sense of inner peace and outer resilience. As social animals, we humans often need trusted relational support to heal and evolve into our true potential. I am honored to be that person and create that space for you!

While most people come to therapy with a problem or struggle that needs immediate attention, we often find that unraveling the present challenge can lead us into deeper work, revealing underlying patterns or beliefs that limit us or cause us pain. I am here to support you in working through what you are facing today, as well as diving deep into that quieter layer of experience that pulls at your heart, mind, and body. Together we can attend to your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, and develop your sense of self-trust and knowing. Above all, I aim to meet you where you are and shape my approach to your needs as each session unfolds.

Non judgement and unconditional acceptance are the cornerstones of my practice. My strength is looking at each client's issues as opportunities for learning. Body centered education, teaching how emotional feelings become feelings in the body, is emphasized. Learning from my client's current awareness is the goal in any session. My work is non-religious but spiritual. My intention is to have each client lose the need for ongoing therapy. I have been successful in helping hundreds of individuals. I see adults, teens, couples and groups. I have offered Equine assisted therapy as an adjunct to my practice since 1999.

Spirituality Therapists

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?

Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?

There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?

Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?

Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
