I work with clients who feel there is more to who they are than how they are currently living, and who are committed to making a shift. My relational approach encourages the therapeutic process to be a co-creative exploration between clients and myself, meeting as a collaborative team. Working holistically, with the body and mind, I work with clients towards re-patterning old constructs to support living from a place of balance and deep presence. Together, we uncover new perspectives that are in support of the client's goals and growth.

Life's challenges provide great opportunity for growth. Whether you are struggling with past trauma, relationship issues, life transitions or anxiety/depression, my goal is to help you find a strong trust and confidence in yourself and your inner wisdom. Blending traditional and non-traditional approaches to growth and change, we will work to identify and shed beliefs, thoughts and actions that are no longer working, while developing new and effective ways to approach old problems.

Relationships are what make life richer, kinder, and more fun. When those aren't working well, life can be really tough, either because we don't have the relationships we want, or those we have aren't working... Loneliness, people-pleasing, social anxiety, or fear of rejection... arguments, lack of connection, or constant conflict... all these can make relationships really, really hard. It all comes down to our relationship with... ourselves. When we know, love, and care for ourselves, our relationships start to change, from the inside out.

Utilizing various approaches, including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic, Solution Focused, Supportive and Trauma informed therapy, I work closely to find the right modality for your solution.
I began as a therapist in 2018, volunteering for Salvation Army for over 2 years as a counselor in their residential rehabilitation facility in Honolulu, seeing the great need to reach families and individuals with substance abuse and overwhelming hardships. Following this position, I found a deeper passion for working with Hawaii’s youth as an Intensive In-home therapist, with certification in treating anxiety disorders in children and adolescents. After relocating to Colorado in 2021, I started working with a diverse population, addressing a wide variety of challenges, collaborating with clients to find beneficial solutions.

It doesn’t matter who you are, we all have times when we could use the help of others. Normal life can be fraught with challenges and then you add all that is happening in the world, this can weigh anyone down. I am here to listen and to provide you the skills you need to help navigate life and to be in a stronger place emotionally. I am trained to listen for the exceptions to the person’s problems, to identify their strengths, and to help build on these to discover solutions in their lives. I can also provide EMDR to help with trauma that may be interfering with a person's ability to achieve their desired goals.

Solution Focused Brief (SFBT) Therapists

How does solution-focused therapy work?

The treatment works by helping a client notice which behaviors and thoughts have positive results on their lives and building a plan around how to maximise these strengths. Practitioners of solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) believe that individuals already have the experience, wisdom, and resilience to create change in their lives, but may need a guide to help them realise which changes to make and how to make them.

Is solution-focused brief therapy evidence-based?

Yes. Solution-focused brief therapy has been extensively studied, and researchers find strong evidence that it’s an effective treatment for many behavioral and psychological concerns. This may be due to the uplifting nature and practicality of the treatment, which allows patients to employ strategies to reach their goals that are incremental and achievable.

How long does solution-focused brief therapy last?

Solution-focused brief therapy, as the name implies, is brief. The timeline may vary from person to person, given the challenges they face and their situation in life, but treatment is typically complete within four to eight sessions. This therapy type is a pragmatic one: it’s concerned more with “how” problems can be addressed and improved than getting to the root of “why” they exist in the first place.

Is solution-focused brief therapy a type of cognitive behavioral therapy?

Solution-focused brief therapy is related to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)in that both are pragmatic approaches that deal less with gaining a full understanding of the cause of a mental health problem and more with creating plans for how to cope with these problems and improve an individual’s day-to-day life. They are distinct, however, in that SFBT emphasises building on strengths and resources, while CBT focuses on changing negative thoughts and behaviors.
