I have decades of experience in the fields of personal growth (since 1990) and mental health (2004); I've developed an approach based on Internal Family Systems (IFS), gestalt, and other models, called Conscious Heart Integration (CHI). It's gentle and transformative, and many clients say it's different than anything else they've tried. CHI goes beyond talk therapy. Of course, effective treatment includes being witnessed, heard, and deeply understood, but there is much more possible in healing spaces. Somatic, parts-based, and transpersonal models have opened the door for more experiential, holistic, and transformational treatment.

I specialize in solution-focused brief therapy and coaching, coupled with parts work (IFS).
I'm here to offer you a little hope - with some self exploration and support, I believe that it’s possible to find harmony in this chaotic world. I offer a nonjudgmental, openminded space where clients can explore the different parts of themselves, find their authentic self, learn how to establish boundaries, ask for what they need and in turn create healthy relationships with themselves and the people in their lives.

As a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) trained in IFS, I am absolutely passionate about helping those impacted by sexual integrity issues. I work with "addicted parts" using individual, couple, and group therapy modalities. I am quite aware of relational trauma that partners of sex, porn, and relationship addicts experience, and I compassionately work to guide addicted parts through isolating and shame-filled experiences. My role is to help reduce this shame and systematically get to the root of the addictive and compulsive behaviors that have led to intimacy disorder issues.

I use an Internal Family Systems approach that has been proven to show lasting results.
You come home from work and can't unwind - the stress of your day is keeping your thoughts churning and your anxiety up. You’re regularly on edge and binge-watching Netflix & drinking wine is not really working. It’s hard for you to enjoy your kids and partner because the anxious thoughts overrun you. It’s difficult to say no to co-workers and friends because you don’t want to let anyone down, but you’re exhausted. The to-do list keeps getting longer and there’s no real time for you – the life you thought you’d be living seems just out of your grasp.

I have also trained in Social Thinking, Special Education, IFS, and a number of other psychotherapy approaches.
I provide therapy and coaching for neurologically diverse adults and teens who may at times feel challenged, confused or exhausted by the social world. I enjoy helping clients to interpret the 'invisible' rules of social relationships, and to problem-solve practical challenges they may face at home, work, or school. I use EMDR therapy frequently for improving self-regulation, and for processing trauma or other past experiences that may be interfering with clients' daily life. I also provide consultation to parents and caregivers of individuals who are working on social cognition issues.

I am skilled in the areas of: Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (trauma and developmental issues), Jungian dream work, EFT (emotionally focused therapy), EMDR, Brainspotting, family systems, addictions.
Carl Rogers said, when we accept ourselves as we are, then we can change. Focusing on the individual and their unique capability toward healing is the guiding approach I take in therapy. I work with great curiosity to explore the distractions and negative cycles that may be keeping you stuck. The struggle for clarity is a difficult one to navigate in isolation; together we can look at patterns and behaviors that no longer service you. The therapeutic process is one of finding balance between the emotional and rational, the mind and body and bringing that forward into our lives.

I combine modern research with ancient wisdom, utilizing my on-going study and training in neuroscience, arousal and attachment theories, Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Transpersonal and Jungian psychologies, Internal Family Systems and a generous sprinkling of the Wise Woman Herbal Tradition.
As humans, our desire for connection and belonging is innate, healthy and our birthright. Too often, parts of us seem to sabotage our relationships and peace of mind by utilizing old learned patterns, meant to protect, but now limiting our fullest expressions of love and security. When we explore, honor and understand the origins of these parts and turn toward them with compassion, we offer ourselves the opportunity to integrate and heal old wounds, to live and love in the present, informed by, but not limited by the past. I assist individuals and couples in transforming themselves and their relationships.

Additionally, I utilize Mindfulness, IFS (Internal Family Systems)/parts work and cognitive therapies to assist clients of diverse identities in expanding their sense of freedom, connection, and authenticity in everyday life.
You make sense. With a foundation of somatic trauma-sensitive mindfulness, I collaboratively create a client-centered space for individuals and couples to uncover obstacles that block aliveness, connection, safety, and joy. With an awake heart, clarity, and nonjudgmental presence, I help clients find perspective, make meaning of difficulties, access innate wisdom, and gain skills to emerge into freedom. From queer lineages and white European/Celtic ancestry, I am a queer, gender-variant-femme, poet and Buddhist practitioner who derives inspiration and purpose from the forces of nature, meditation, and relationships.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
