My background is in evidence-based and contemplative practices such as Gestalt, CBT, DBT, and ACT.
I will help you to transform your life. My therapeutic approach is Humanistic and person-centered, and I aim to make my clients to feel fully seen, heard, and understood. I understand that going to therapy is not always pleasant, so I incorporate art therapy and movement-based interventions to help increase my clients’ window of tolerance over time. I use trauma-informed techniques to teach my clients how to regulate themselves when they are triggered. My approach incorporates working with the shadow self and integrating parts that have incurred trauma.

Through play therapy, Gestalt, and IFS, I help adults explore parts of themselves that may still be stuck in childhood.
The world is a playground—we've always known that. Yet, as we grow up, it can often seem cruel and dangerous, far from the wonderland we once imagined. Society’s standards bombard us, leading us to lose ourselves in endless comparison games. My mission is to build a genuine connection with you. Together, we can create a safe space to heal from the past and reconnect with your true self, the one that shines brightly and plays freely, at your own pace. You are dynamic and unique. Traditional talk therapy alone is not enough.

I employ and tools from Gestalt, CBT, humanism, and good common sense.
I believe in plain talk and getting to the root of the issue. To that end, we will name the elephant in the room and then work together to meet the goals that you have for yourself and your mental well being. I've always said that theory and application are two different things. I will not make you fit into a preconceived psyche mold, rather we will plot the therapy course that meets your needs and goals from where you have been to where you are going. The distance between dreams and reality is called action. Take action.

Robyn's approach and methodologies include Applied Existential Psychotherapy (AEP), Gestalt, Psychodrama, and Guided Imagery and Music.
Transformation only happens in relationship. The absence of a relational home for transformation generally leads to superficial temporary changes. We make ourselves stuck by building walls of protection around us, which probably made perfect sense at the time. However, walls of protection eventually become walls of constriction. These walls lead us to the illusion of having no choices in our situation, to the belief that life is happening to us, instead of what is true, that we are living our lives and making choices of how we live life.

I have been influenced by trauma-informed, client-centered therapy, as well as Gestalt therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and somatic awareness and processing.
I work with people who seek to find happiness and inner growth. I help clients work with, rather than against, anxiety, depression, anger, grief, limiting beliefs, habitual thought and behavioral patterns, and existential despair. Through the therapeutic relationship, we come to better understand how we wish to relate to everyone - family, lovers, friends, colleagues, strangers. While therapy can be challenging, and may put us in contact with potentially frightening or unpleasant emotions, we will also have fun and laugh along the way at the beautiful absurdity of being human, all too human.

Navigating coupling, uncoupling, transitions, and relationships can be challenging. We yearn for togetherness and separateness; closeness and space; intimacy and independence; safety/security and intrigue/desire. We fear in relationships we are either losing love or losing ourselves. Lorna is passionate about supporting couples and connection. She works with partners and individuals using PACT, RLT, Gestalt, and myriad embodied + mindfulness-based attachment and trauma-informed lenses to develop secure functioning — leveraging forces that foster a sense of safety alongside those that sustain long-term fulfillment and desire.

I have decades of experience in the fields of personal growth (since 1990) and mental health (2004); I've developed an approach based on Internal Family Systems (IFS), gestalt, and other models, called Conscious Heart Integration (CHI). It's gentle and transformative, and many clients say it's different than anything else they've tried. CHI goes beyond talk therapy. Of course, effective treatment includes being witnessed, heard, and deeply understood, but there is much more possible in healing spaces. Somatic, parts-based, and transpersonal models have opened the door for more experiential, holistic, and transformational treatment.

Gestalt: addresses conflicts we have within ourselves or with others.
As a therapist, I offer a lot of feedback while respecting your views and goals. I have no hidden agenda, what you see is what you get. My job is to empower you to find your way through stuck places and to accompany you on your path of self-discovery. I was born and raised in Europe, so it gives me the benefit of having a multi-cultural perspective on life which I believe can enrich one's exploration.

What is gestalt therapy?
Gestalt therapy is based on the idea that to address unresolved negative feelings, emotions must be not only discussed but also actively expressed in the present moment. The term is from a German word meaning “whole,” and gestalt therapists believe that people should be considered whole entities made up of mind, body, and emotions. Gestalt sessions are rooted in the notion that a client’s total self must be discovered, explored, and confronted, so that they can take greater responsibility for themselves and their behavior, learn to satisfy their own needs while still respecting the needs of others, and reconnect with feelings they might otherwise deny.
How does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy sessions do not just involve talking with a therapist. Clients may take part in role-playing, re-enactment, or artistic exercises like drawing and painting, with the goal of becoming more aware of negative thought patterns that limit happiness. One common gestalt exercise is “the empty chair,” in which a client sits across from an empty chair representing a partner, relative, boss, or a part of themselves—and, with the therapist’s encouragement, improvises a dialog with it. The intention is to bring the emotions raised by past conflicts into the present and work through them in the moment.
How long does gestalt therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for gestalt therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. New patients should understand that it may take some time to become comfortable with gestalt exercises but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions.
Does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy has generally been found to be as effective as other forms of talk therapy in helping people living with anxiety, depression, phobias, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, as well as helping individuals reduce conflict in relationships. Gestalt techniques, on their own or in combination with other therapies, can also be effective in managing physical ailments including ulcerative colitis, migraines, and back spasms. It should be noted that some people may have trouble adapting to gestalt therapy’s lack of formal structure or to a therapist’s close observations of their body language and emotions; others may struggle to commit to techniques that feel unnatural, like the empty chair exercise.
