Trauma and the resulting symptoms can be a real-life Hydra, the multi-headed monster which can dictate the narrative of your life, impacting everything from sleep and mood to the quality of your relationships.
Notable moments in our lives reveal to us how we feel about ourselves and the lives we are living. Feeling stuck can be one of those revealing moments and while you might be unsure why you even feel this way, this can motivate making those needed changes even while feeling unsure where to start. As a professional eager to hear your story and encourage you in your healthy changes, I am here to work with you in a compassionate, empathetic fashion.

Most of us are looking for peace, with ourselves, in relationships and as we move through our world. In cultivating peace, we may need support in managing difficult emotions or working through a loss or traumatic experience. Whether you are looking to manage grief, depressive symptoms or anxiety, or you desire to cultivate a deeper relationship with yourself and others, knowing our own truth is key. The answer is in each of us; we may just need a little guidance in finding it. I deeply love the work of meeting people where they are and guiding & creatively companioning them into work that enables a richer, more peaceful life.

Hi. Im Allie. What do you need? This is where we start. Need is a strength, not a weakness. Whether personal growth, relationships, grieving, healing of past abuse, trauma or codependency, leadership skills, or overcoming that dang shame judge in our heads, we need support. Isolation is not helpful to us, and I encourage you to build a life team of authentic relationships. I am trained in the Townsend Model of Competency and Character Growth incorporating Grace, Truth and Time to your bonding, boundaries, accepting reality and embracing your competency for good fruit to grow in your personal, professional and relational life.

Each person is unique. Even though humans are often very similar to one another, your struggles, strengths, and desires are different than anyone else's in the world. If you want to explore yourself, your beliefs, and your spirituality in depth, I am an excellent resource for you. If you want to see the links between your body, mind, heart, and soul, I believe I can facilitate that journey. If you want to discover what God is drawing you towards, we can work together to discern the loving and wise path.

Most people muddle their way through life doing the best they can with the limited information and tools they grew up with. How might life be different if a person took the initiative to understand what they want out of life and relationships, and then develop the healthy habits and tools they need to cultivate that life? It is never too late to change your trajectory by deliberately curating healthy life habits and genuine, well-connected relationships. Imagine growing something healthy and productive out of the ashes of trauma, or cultivating genuine relational connection out of conflict and loneliness.

Hi! Thanks for meeting me here! My practice, Waypoint Partnerships, is a mental health counseling and personal growth practice designed to come alongside people on their distinctive wellness journeys while encouraging, challenging, supporting, and inspiring them to live courageously. My practice supports this mission through two modalities: Waypoint Walk + Talk and Telehealth: Walk + Talk are sessions designed to transport therapy to the trails and other local community spaces to engage in counseling while walking, sitting on park benches, or enjoying the view from a pavilion. Telehealth sessions are also available.

I know first hand how discouraging it is to have a therapist you just don't click with (or think is a total wack-a-doo). Its frustrating to open up only to have someone say, "that must be hard" and little else week after week! One of the most important factors in a successful therapeutic experience is the relationship between therapist and client. I believe in this so strongly that our first session together will be free so you can meet me and see for yourself if this is a good fit. You need someone personable and genuine to relate to; to help you feel safe, challenge you to grow, and possibly even make you laugh.

ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS and I accept medicaid Navigating through life can sometimes feel overwhelming. Life can kick us in the gut and making it hard to catch our breath. Sometimes feelings are overwhelming without a reason. Reaching out for help seems like one more thing. It sometimes feels like you are shattered into a billion pieces. I get it, we've all been there. I work mostly with teens, having been a troubled and angry depressed teen myself. I have seen people take the broken pieces of their lives and create beauty. I can walk with you on that journey to healing.

Narrative Therapists

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds—perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
